Abstract

The detector comprises a gauge connected mechanically by an arm to a supported reference level cable. The gauge comprises a flat plate with a specific profile which is driven by the arm so that the profile passes between two coils of a transducer (4) to convert movement into electrical signals. The output is compared with the demanded position value and the difference signal activates an electrically controlled servo valve which operates an actuator to move the blade. The transducer has a HF pulse generator (13) is magnetically coupled to a demodulator (19), by a pair of coils (15, 17). The coils have cores (16, 18) and are aligned, the profile (21) passing between the cores.
