Abstract

The light has a toroidal discharge lamp and a reflector with three or more circular surfaces coaxial with the toroidal lamp. Two of the surfaces concerned (8, 9) are mounted on opposite sides of the toroidal lamp, and diverge as they extend from their common axis. The generatrices of these surfaces are straight lines, and a first surface is of frusto-conical section whose smaller end lies close to an imaginary line (10) perpendicular to the common axis and bearing against the toroidal lamp, being on the opposite side of this imaginary line to the toroidal lamp. The generatrix of the truncated cone is at an angle (17) to the imaginary line of between 5 and 54 deg. A third central feflecting surface (12) coincides along the periphery with the smaller end of the truncated cone.
