Abstract

The clip body (10) carries the exterior head or cable clip, with a sealing face (10a) attached by a part cylindrical section (30), of height less than the thickness of the supporting sheet (T), to the spring foot (24). This foot has partially conical faces (22, 26) which bear against the interior of the hole when inserted. As the spring arm (23) tries to open, the conical faces cause the sealing face (10a) to be drawn against the support sheet face (Fe). A good sealed joint is therefore always maintained even though the material thickness (e) may vary over a wide range. Control over insertion forces is gained by varying the slope and concavity of the faces (21a, 23a) whilst similar control of extraction forces is given by the slope of faces (22, 26).
