Abstract

A transmitter generates a recurrence frequency which varies as a function of the information to be transmitted by pulses whose duration is notably less than the least recurrence period. A short range very high frequency carrier wave is modulated by means of the pulses. A receiver demodulates the carrier so as to restore the pulses and generates from the restored pulses a signal, modulated as a function of variations in their recurrence frequency, which represents the transmitted data. THe receiver also generates from each restored pulse a similar but delayed pulse which is used to modulate another short range carrier wave for relaying the received wave whilst inhibiting reception at least during the duration of each delayed pulse.
