Abstract

An appts. for sepg. solids from liquids in whith they are suspended, or sepg. non-miscible liquids of different densities from one another, consists of a vessel, generally in the shape of a parallelepiped, and which are fitted transverse inclined plates parallel to one another, and in which are two distribution channels arranged longitudinally, at the top of lateral compartments formed by the walls of the vessel and internal partitions. The partitions are not as deep as the walls, and form passages through which liq. overflowing from the distribution channels can flow into the control compartment, and upwards through it to an outlet channel, depositing solids on inclined plates. The solids fall to the bottom from where they are scraped to an outlet trough. The slow constant flow, without agitation or turbulence, gives sepn. without the disturbances to which liquids can be subjected in existing decanter systems.
