Abstract

The system utilises the energy in flowing water. Turbines driven by water currents whether due to tides or rivers are used to drive air compressors. The compressed air is stored in reservoirs to be used when required to drive compressed air motors which may be turbines or piston types. In this way energy can always be available irrespective of the state of the tide or rive. It is proposed to mount the water turbines on platforms anchored to the shore or rivers bed, so that the turbine blades are always immersed on water. The turbine and air compressor are mounted on a common shaft.
