Abstract

The unit contains a number of roller elements, supported on two running paths, one of which is stationary. The second path is connected to a drive- or take-off shaft. The roller elements are contained in an intermediate unit, which is in active connection with a shaft, so that shaft and elements rotate together. Each element is revolvable on a pivot, the axis of which may be inclined, to give a continuous adjustment of the transmission ratio. The intermediate unit and the two running paths enclose a circular seat. The roller elements are contained with free play in the seat. The supporting force of the elements on the running paths is caused by the centrifugal force, applied onto the elements by the rotation of the drive shaft.
