Abstract

The flexible coupling damps out vibrations and oscillations between a motor block and an exhaust pipe. The end of each pipe (3, 4) is welded or brazed onto a collar (1, 2). In turn, both collars are joined by a flexible bellows connector (5), welded or brazed in place. Lugs (8, 9) on each collar are arranged, one above (9) and one below (8) the longitudinal axis and machined to give flat surfaces (8a, 9a). A spring steel strip (10) each side connects the lugs on each tube which are bolted together. Assembly is done using spacer bars (13, 14) which are removed after completion.
