Abstract

On opening the door is slightly rotated free from the door frame and then the door is slid along the vehicle wall. The sliding mechanism has two parallel rails. The door is connected at its upper edge to these rails by a linkage mechanism. The overhanging linkages carry rolls which run in the rails. The parallel rails and the connecting elements ensure that the swivelling movement for opening or closing is restricted. The rail which carries the door weight is a straight rail. The guiding rail is curved at its end for providing swivelling movements. The guide rail ensures that the door is correctly closed.
