Abstract

The parent patent describes a spatter dyeing process comprising forcing dye fluid from spray nozzles to form streams of dye droplets which pass between electrodes such that the droplets are electrically charged, and the droplets then fall through an electrostatic field whereby they are deviated to control deposition of the droplets on a fabric passing beneath the nozzles. The nozzles are connected to a common dye fluid feed device which is vibrated to cause the dye fluid to form the streams of droplets. In the improvement the dye fluid feed device is rigidly fixed and comprises either a common supply chamber to which all nozzles are connected or individual supply chambers for each nozzle. The upper wall of each supply chamber is vibrated and is pref. formed either by a piezo-electric crystal of a resonator, or a piezo electric crystal acting on a flexible membrane. Pref. the piezo-electric crystal is excited by a high frequency alternately current having a frequency is not >85k Hz. A more uniform discharge of dye droplets (which are of a more uniform size is achieved.).
