Abstract

A brassiere is knitted on a circular knitting machine by feeding a single yarn to all of the needles to form a welt and then feeding a selected group of needles (pref. 80 needles) with several (pref. four) yarns to form a cup. Finally all of the needles are fed with a single yarn to form an upper welt. The brassiere may be formed on a single hose having two cups, formed on separate groups of needles, and may be cut longitudinally and provided with fasteners depending on the elasticity of the hose. Alternatively two separate hose each having a cup may be knitted, and after sectioning the two hoses longitudinally they are secured together to form a brassiere. Nearly the complete brassiere is knitted in a single operation.
