Abstract
Cpds. of formula (I): where the arrowed bonds are in the alpha- or beta-configuration and R1 and R2 = O or OH, are prepd. from PGA2 by redn. of the 9-keto gp., e.g., by a metal borohydride, trialkoxyborohydride, hydride or trialkoxyhydride, and hydroxylation at the 11-carbon atom using oxidn. e.g., with H2O2, and transformation of the resulting epoxide using Cr++ or a metal hydride or borohydride.
