Abstract
Low concentrations of undesirable materials, e.g. org. solvents, excess monomers, uncombusted hydrocarbons, NO and CO, are eliminated from gases by (a) passing the gas into a bed of active carbon to adsorb the undesirable material, (b) purging the adsorbed undesirable material by passing a gas stream through the bed, and (c) passing the purge gas contg. the undesirable material into a bed of an adsorbant impregnated with an oxidn. catalyst while controlling the temp. of the bed at a value below its inflammation temp. Method gives efficient elimination of low concentrations of undesirable materials, rapid oxidn. of the undesirable material and repeated use of the bed of activated carbon.
