Abstract

Abrasive tools trim the surfaces exposed as items are moved in >=2 directions in chilled tunnels without changing their own orientation. Pref. the items are moved horizontally, pref. between rotating abrasive tools, pref. mounted in pairs on pivotted arms which are spring loaded to bear against the surfaces being trimmed. Equipment is suitable for treating non-circular profiles, e.g. parallelepipedic or boxed shapes. The tunnels have rams which push successive items to be trimmed along lagged corridors fitted with liquid air sprays and abrasive rollers.
