Abstract

Purification of gas streams for use in the synthesis of methanol, H2 and NH3, and contg. CO2, CO, H2O and small quantities of S and halogen derivs. such as H2S, HCl, COCl2, COS, CS2, thioesters etc. in which the gas is passed over reduced Mn oxide (Mn suboxide) at 100-600 degrees C. The Mn sub. opt. contains 5-90% of an oxide, carbonate or hydroxide of an alkali metal, CuO or ZnO.
