Abstract

A plunger and/or mould formed of a suitable metal or alloy having a m.pt. below the softening point of the glass and pref. below the annealing temp. are used to press-form a charge of molten glass into an intricate article. By heating the pressed article and the mould and/or plunger to the annealing temperature of the glass, the glass is annealed while simultaneously meltably removing the mould and/or plunger. Pref. the plunger and/or mould are made of aluminium.
