Abstract
Support consists of a mixture of (i) 1-20 wt.% of finely divided SiO2 or Al2O3, (ii) 60-98 wt.% of at least one inert granular cpd. (pref. of grain size 10-100 m mu and surface area of 10-500 m.2/g.) selected from starches, water-insoluble cellulose derivs. microcrystalline cellulose and alkaline earth sulphates, carbonates and phosphates, and (iii) 1-20 wt.% of a water-soluble softening agent (pref. water-soluble cellulose, starch or vegetable gum), the product being obtained by drying while vigorously stirring a suspension of (i) and (ii) in an aq. soln. of (iii).
