Abstract

A method for service provisioning to a client (C1 - C4) of a distributed object component network (DOCN) in which services are implemented as sets (3A, 3B) of one or more service components (3c - 3m; 71 - 76). The method comprises authenticating the client (CT, C1 - C4) and on the basis of the authenticating step, assigning one of several predetermined roles (R1 - R3) to the client (CT, C1 - C4). Each role (R1 - R3) is associated with a set of access rights to the service components (3c - 3m; 71 - 76) or component sets (3A, 3B) that implement the service. Thus the client (CT, C1 - C4) does not have to be authenticated in respect of individual service components (3c - 3m; 71 - 76) or sets (3A, 3B) thereof.
