Abstract

1. A domestic refrigerator comprising two sections, one of said sections being the refrigerating section (1) and the other the freezer and storing section (2), said sections being refrigerated by two evaporators supplied from a single compressor, wherein the thermostat is disposed in the refrigerating section (1) and the refrigerator includes a switch (10, C1 , C2 ) for energizing the illuminating lamp (3) of the refrigerating section (1) during the freezing phases in order to heat said refrigerating section, said switch (10, C1 , C2 ) cooperating with means indicating to the user that the refrigerator is in said operating phase, characterized in that said means includes a coloured cover (12) mechanically coupled to the switch (10, C1 , C2 ), and during the freezing phase said coloured cover (12) is disposed in front of the illuminating lamp (3) of the refrigeration section (1) in the direction of said section and during normal operation it is retracted from its position covering the lamp depending on whether the switch (10, C1 , C2 ) is moved to the closed or the open position, so that the colour of lighting of the section differs in response to whether or not the cover is in front of the lamp, and that the user's attention is directed to the operating condition of the apparatus when he/she observes the colour of lifting.
