Abstract

Un método para controlar un proceso para la recuperación de zinc por electroextracción, a partir de una solución de electroextracción de sulfato de zinc que contiene concentraciones de impurezas, y, opcionalmente por lo menos, un aditivo de polarización, caracterizado porque comprende las etapas de establecer un circuito de prueba que comprende una célula de prueba, una muestra de solución de electroextracción, un cátodo, un ánodo y un electrodo de referencia, sumergiéndose dichos electrodos en la muestra citada, una fuente de voltaje variable y medios de medición eléctricamente conectados a dichos electrodos; aplicar un potencial a los electrodos en dicha célula de prueba para obtener un potencial predeterminado entre dicho cátodo y dicho electrodo de referencia; disminuir el potencial predeterminado a una velocidad constante a corriente sustancialmente cero; medir el potencial decreciente; terminar dicha disminución de dicho potencial a un valor que corresponde al punto en que se inicia la deposición de zinc sobre el cátodo y aumenta rápidamente la corriente medida a partir de un valor sustancialmente cero para cualquier ulterior pequeña disminución de potencial; determinar el sobrepotencial de activación; relacionar dicho sobrepotencial de activación a la concentración de impurezas y del aditivo opcional de dicha muestra y ajustar el proceso para la recuperación de zinc con el fin de obtener una recuperación óptima de zinc.
