Abstract
Improvements introduced in the object of the main patent no. 332,593 by: "A method for making castings with aluminum alloys", said improvements being characterized in that the aluminum-based alloy used comprises by weight of about 3.5 to about 6.0% copper, up to about 3.0% silver, up to about 0.4% magnesium, up to about 1% manganese, less than about 0.15% silicon, up to about 0.7 % titanium as grain refiner, up to 4% zinc, up to 0.5% chromium, the remainder being essentially aluminum; These improvements are also characterized by producing sand castings, which once subjected to a solution heat treatment and aged have strengths greater than 3500 kg/cm2, maximum tensile strengths above 4200 kg/cm2, elongations of at least 5% and a high resistance to corrosion.
