Un método para fabricar una preforma (200, 400, 600), que comprende las etapas de: - proporcionar una pluralidad de segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801), cada uno de dichos segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801) que define un tramo de una preforma (200, 400); - posicionar dichos segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801) en contacto continuo entre sí a lo largo de al menos un borde de dichos segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801), de manera que dicha pluralidad de segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801) definen una cavidad (210, 416); y - unir cada uno de dichos segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801) a al menos otro segmento de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801), de manera que dicha pluralidad de segmentos de preforma (201-205, 401-408, 800-801) forma un conjunto continuo. Los segmentos de cuerpo 602 y 603 son sustancialmente idénticos, y están unidos a lo largo de una costura longitudinal 604 para crear un cuerpo de la preforma 605 que es sustancialmente tubular y está cerrado en un primer extremo 606. 15 La figura 7 es una vista en sección de la cavidad 609 de la preforma 600, que mira hacia la superficie interior del segmento de cuello 601. La boca 610 tiene un centro de la boca 613 que corresponde con la línea central de la boca 611 de la preforma de la figura 6. El cuerpo de la preforma 605 tiene un centro del cuerpo 614, que igualmente corresponde con la línea central del cuerpo 612 de la preforma de la figura 6. 20 Cuando la preforma 600 de acuerdo con esta realización se transforma en un recipiente, el recipiente resultante tendrá un cuello que está desplazado de la línea central general del recipiente. Dicho recipiente será más fácil de verter, especialmente en grandes capacidades.
25 Las figuras 8a a 8c representan un aparato para la fabricación de una preforma de acuerdo con el método anteriormente descrito. Más concretamente, las figuras 8a a 8c ilustran la disposición del aparato antes, durante, y después de una etapa de unión de dos segmentos de preforma mediante soldadura por ultrasonidos.

El segmento superior 800 está provisto de una pestaña de acoplamiento 802, mientras que el segmento inferior S01 está provisto de un resalte 803 y un agujero escariado 804 configurado para aceptar la pestaña de acoplamiento 802 del segmento superior 800.

Preferiblemente, cuando la pestaña de acoplamiento 802 del segmento superior 800 se inserta en el agujero
40 escariado 804 del segmento inferior 801, el concentrador de fuerzas 805 creará un ajuste de interferencia suave con la pestaña de acoplamiento 802. Esto servirá para mantener los dos segmentos 800 y 801 juntos antes de la etapa de unión, facilitando su manipulación y unión en un entorno de producción.
El aparato está provisto de un yunque ultrasónico 806 y dos cuernos ultrasónicos 807. El yunque ultrasónico 806
45 tiene sensiblemente forma de barra, mientras que los cuernos ultrasónicos 807 están configurados como placas con cortes semicirculares 808. Los cortes semicirculares 808 están configurados preferiblemente para que coincidan sustancialmente con el segmento inferior 801 en el resalte 803, si bien se sobreentenderá que proporcionar otras configuraciones del yunque ultrasónico y los cuernos, puede ser preferible para otras realizaciones.

El segmento superior 800 se inserta en el segmento inferior 801, de tal manera que la pestaña de acoplamiento 802 se dispone dentro del agujero escariado 804. El yunque ultrasónico 806 se ha avanzado hacia el segmento superior 800 y los cuernos ultrasónicos 807 se han avanzado lateralmente hacia el segmento inferior 801, presionando así los dos segmentos 800 y 801 juntos en la interfaz 809 entre los dos. El yunque ultrasónico 806 y los cuernos ultrasónicos807 se repliegan, y el proceso puede repetirse para otro par de segmentos de preforma.

5 configuraciones distintas de las variaciones descritas anteriormente en forma de anillo y longitudinalmente divididas, y permitirán la fabricación de muchos tipos diferentes de preformas que no se describen en este documento, pero que sin embargo, están dentro del ámbito de la invención.
