Abstract

Removable sampling device for performing non-destructive autopsies on spirally configured membranes. The fouling of the desalination membranes is a serious problem for the water treatment industry. To identify the level of fouling of the membranes, a device has been developed that allows obtaining significant samples of membranes for laboratory analysis, without the need to extract, move and sacrifice one or more membrane elements of the system. Its distribution in different points of an installation allows for a preventive and corrective control of the contamination. It is composed of a hollow plastic tube perforated around it, which can be opened at both ends when replacing the interconnector with an outlet to the outside, or closed by one of them when replacing the cap on one end of the permeate collector, a mesh of permeate, a polymeric membrane, a spacer and a waterproof plastic.
