Abstract
A set of extrusion dies for the manufacture of electric cables lined by extruding a coating on the core of the cable as the core passes through holes formed in the dies, said set of dies comprising a core die having a hole formed to correspond exactly to the section shape of the core of the cable to be coated, and a ring die having a hole substantially larger than the hole of the core die, said core die and ring die being adapted to be juxtaposed an extruder head with the holes of the die in register to allow a core of wire to be threaded through the dies and being formed so that, when the two dies are thus juxtaposed, they delimit between the opposite surfaces of the two dies an annular passage that serves, in the use of the dies, for the dec the arga of the coating material in the core of the cable as it leaves the hole of the die and passes through the hole of the ring die, said hole of the ring die being delimited between that surface of the ring, which, in juxtaposition with the core die, delimits said annular passage and a divergent surface of the ring punch delimiting an outlet of the ring punch which diverges from the hole of the punch and has substantially no reach in the direction of passage of the core of the cable through the dies when they are working.
