A chair with a tiltable seat, comprising a mounting and support structure having two spaced tubular metal vertical elements joined by at least one transverse element, an injection molded backrest element formed with cavities contiguous to its side edges and receiving the upper ends of the tubular vertical members, seat supports secured to and extending forward from the vertical elements, an injection molded backrest element having a peripheral flange turned downward, metal reinforcing elements extending in a parallel direction with respect to and within the rear part of the seat element, the reinforcing elements being formed with outwardly facing pests that fit with the seat supports when it is turned downwards.
