Abstract

A measurement system based on ISFET/MEMFET sensors permits the variation of the sensor operating point and the determination of the ion concentration in a liquid medium. The circuit involved is formed by two sources of current, two resistances, two operational amplifiers, a feed and measurement unit, an electro-metric ammeter, a reference electrode, and finally a chemical sensor (ISFET/MEMFET), the latter being immersed in the liquid medium which it is required to analyze. The circuit can be utilized as a measurement circuit, to ascertain the activity of the ion H+ in the liquid medium or other ion where a MEMFET sensor is employed, maintaining a fixed operation point or as a characterization circuit, in which the operation point can be controlled, that is to say the current of the sensor and the polarization tension, centering the study in the sensor itself.
