Abstract
Quasicrystalline coatings of the thermal barrier type for the protection of components in the hot zones of turbines. Quasicrystalline coatings of the thermal barrier type for the protection of components in the hot zones of turbines which may comprise a diffusion barrier between the substrate and the thermal barrier proper. These coatings have application in the field of both gas and aviation turbine engines and in industrial use, and in any other application where there is a need to increase the effect produced by cooling in a component in order to maintain it below the ambient environment and at the same time to protect it against high temperature oxidation, hot corrosion and erosion at temperatures in excess of 700 degree C. Processes for depositing the said coatings.
