Abstract

Electrophoretic process for the detection, identification or separation of molecules characterized by introducing a time- based programmed temperature change during the electrophoretic migration. This process can be used to separate very similar but not identical molecules of any nature provided that their electrophoretic mobility can vary in relation to temperature, such as polynucleotides, polypeptides, polysaccharides, derivatives of any of these, or other polymer or non-polymer organic molecules or complexes. The process has a specially useful application in the detection of mutations in human genetic material. It can be applied to any type of electrophoresis including capillary electrophoresis.
