EN UNA REALIZACION, UNOS ELECTRODOS POSITIVOS (1) Y NEGATIVOS (2) DE MATERIALES CONDUCTORES ELECTRICOS CON POTENCIALES ELECTROQUIMICOS DIFERENTES ESTAN SEPARADOS. AL MENOS UNO DE LOS ELECTRODOS TIENE UN RECUBRIMIENTO DE MATERIAL ELECTRICAMENTE AISLANTE (3, 4) EXTENDIENDOSE SUSTANCIALMENTE ALREDEDOR. DE ESTA FORMA, LA UNICA CONEXION ELECTROCONDUCTORA QUE DESARROLLA UN POTENCIAL ELECTROQUIMICO ENTRE LOS ELECTRODOS SE ESTABLECE MEDIANTE UN EFECTO CAPACITIVO A TRAVES DEL FLUIDO A SER TRATADO, CUYO FLUIDO ES PASADO ENTRE LOS ELECTRODOS (1, 2) .
