Abstract

Prodn of an insulated component, esp. a distributor rotor for an i.c. engine, includes embedding the contact members 11a, 11b) in plastics leaving their contact surfaces free. The connection members are located in an injection mould (10a) and a plastics base member is formed. The contact regions are not covered with plastics, but the other regions are supplied with a plastics sprayed coating. The electrical connections are produced in a third stage and a plastics cover layer is applied at the end. The base member is pref. a polyester. ADVANTAGE - Insulation is precisely applied. Process is automatic.
