Description

  • The present invention relates to a gas oven wherein the door temperature is reduced and problems such as flame elongation, flame extinction, and emissions are eliminated when the door is closed.
  • In gas ovens, particularly built-in ovens, the door is opened during the use of the grill burner. However, when the grill burner is operated with the door closed, problems such as flame elongation, flame extinction, or emissions arise. In the built-in ovens, when the grill is used while the door is closed, maintaining the air-gas mixture ratio within the stoichiometric range becomes quite difficult.
  • In the gas built-in ovens, while the grill burner is operated with the door closed, flame extinction occurs on the grill burner due to the dimensions of the oven and the design of the ventilation system. Due to the ventilation structure on the door, unburned gas in the oven cannot be discharged to the outside, and therefore the stoichiometric ratio required for combustion cannot be achieved.
  • Moreover, when the oven operates, the temperature of the cooking chamber is significantly higher than the ambient temperature. Due to the temperature of the cooking chamber, the door of the oven heats up like all the walls thereof. Touching any part of the heated door may cause harm to the user. In order to prevent such hazards, international standards specify that the oven door must remain below certain temperature values. Costs must be increased in order to cool the door panels. As a result, it becomes difficult to maintain cost competitiveness in the market.
  • In the state of the art European Patent No. EP1711747 , an oven is disclosed, comprising a door having guiding members which are provided between the outer and inner panels and which reduce the door temperature by increasing the heat transfer between the air and the outer panel with the air passage rate.
  • In the state of the art United States Patent No. US5107821 , an oven is disclosed, wherein cold air is blown in between the front panel and the intermediate panel which form the door.
  • Another state of the art document is the United States Patent No. US5441036 . This document discloses an oven comprising a door which is divided into four interconnected channels through which the air flows.
  • Yet another state of the art document is the United States Patent No. US5918589 . This document discloses an oven comprising a door which is divided vertically into two parts so as to form passages through which the air flows.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a gas oven wherein the door temperature is reduced and problems such as flame extinction and emissions are eliminated when the door is closed.
  • The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a cooking chamber wherein the foodstuffs to be cooked are placed; a door having a first panel one surface of which is in contact with the external environment, a second panel one surface of which is in contact with the cooking chamber and a third panel which is disposed between the first panel and the second panel; an upper part which holds the first, second, and third panels together; at least one first ventilation mechanism which is provided on the upper part and which is configured to discharge the air from between the first panel and the third panel to the outside of the door; at least one second ventilation mechanism which is provided parallel to the first ventilation mechanism and which is configured to discharge the air from between the second panel and the third panel to the outside of the door; and a step which is provided almost at the center of the upper part and above the level of the first and second ventilation mechanisms so as to divide the first and second ventilation mechanisms into two. Thus, the oven is efficiently operated in grill mode while the door is closed. Moreover, by means of the step provided on the upper part of the door, the problem of high temperature occurring on the door panels is resolved.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the first ventilation mechanism comprises at least one first opening which is provided on the upper part and which is configured to discharge the air from between the first panel and the third panel to the outside of the door, and at least one second opening which is provided at the same horizontal level as the first opening.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the second ventilation mechanism comprises at least one third opening which is configured to discharge the air from between the second panel and the third panel to the outside of the door, and at least one fourth opening which is provided at the same level as the third opening.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the step is provided on the upper part, almost at the center of the upper part so as to separate the first and third openings from the second and fourth openings. By means of the step, the cross-sectional area of the air exiting through the door is narrowed, and the air flow rate is reduced. Since the grill burner in the oven is prevented from being affected by the said flow rate, the grill function is enabled to be performed without problems while the door is closed.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the step has a concave surface. The step narrows the air exit area. The said narrowing in the area prevents the grill burner in the oven from being affected by the air flow rate. Thus, the grill operates without problems while the door is closed.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the step comprises concave side walls.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the surface of the upper part is convex. In this embodiment of the present invention, the first ventilation mechanism is positioned at a level higher than the second ventilation mechanism.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven comprises a first channel which is provided on the upper part, one end of which opens to between the first panel and the third panel, and the other end of which is connected to the first ventilation mechanism. In the embodiment of the present invention, the end of the first channel which opens to the first ventilation mechanism is the first and second openings. The first channel is positioned along the vertical axis.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven comprises a second channel which is provided on the upper part, one end of which opens to between the second panel and the third panel, and the other end of which is connected to the second ventilation mechanism. In the embodiment of the present invention, the end of the second channel which opens to the second ventilation mechanism is the third and fourth openings. There is an angle between the second channel and the vertical axis. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, this angle is between 8° and 12°. By means of the angled positioning of the second channel, the blown air is prevented from filling in between the second panel and the third panel, and is enabled to extract heat from the cooking chamber thanks to the flow rate.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the end of the second channel extending into the door is inclined so as to approach the second panel. Thus, the blown air is prevented from filling in between the second and third panel is prevented, and thanks to the flow rate, heat is extracted from the cooking chamber, and the second panel, which heats up more, is enabled to be cooled so as not to exceed the temperatures required by the standard. By means of the angled positioning of the second channel, the air flow rate increases, and more heat is extracted from the second panel, making it possible to operate the grill function while the door is closed.
  • By means of the present invention, problems such as flame elongation, flame extinction, and emissions which occur during the grill operation with the closed door in the gas built-in ovens are solved, and the temperature increase in the oven door panels is resolved without additional cost. Moreover, the operational efficiency of the ventilation fan operation is increased by means of the upper part of the door. Thus, unburned gas in the oven is more easily discharged into the environment, and the stoichiometric ratio (air-gas mixture) required for effective combustion is achieved.
