Description

    Field of the art
  • Refrigerated display cabinets use insulated glasses consisting of two or more glass sheets separated from each other by a perimeter spacer, usually opaque.
  • In the latest implementations, in order to exploit transparency and visibility of the products even at the margin of the display cabinet and/or to avoid aesthetically unappealing interruptions between consecutive display cabinets, on at least one side of the insulated glazing, the thickening between the two glasses is attained through glass spacers, consisting of glass strips.
  • According to the prior art, the application of such perimeter vitreous thickening is carried out with a substantially manual procedure, comprising cleaning the glass, typically tempered, perimeter application of an adhesive agent usually photopolymerizing, possibly after treatment with an agent for fixing the gluing sediment, laying the vitreous strip on the glass, activation of the photopolymerization adhesive agent with a ultraviolet (UV) ray lamp, usually with length at least equal to the strip to be glued, i.e. glass side, to avoid the treatment differences that a dot-like or reduced segment lamp would involve due to the exposure difference inherent to the manuality of the process, pressing the strip against the sheet, usually by means of a plurality of clamps, leading to minimum drawbacks in planarity of the tempered glasses are flattened against or counteracting the elastic memory of the glass; the operation is then repeated, mutatis mutandis, for gluing the second sheet and possibly the third.
  • Drawbacks in terms of precision, times and costs for implementing such manual method are clear.
  • Another cost-effective solution according to the prior art lies in providing spacer strips made of plastic material and applying them with an adhesive agent, typically double-sided adhesive strips provided on the opposite faces designed to respectively counter-face the vitreous sheets to be spaced apart.
  • However, such cost-effective solution reveals a significant drawback due to the different coefficient of dilatation of the plastic and vitreous material as the temperature changes, which causes relative movements between the assembled workpieces and the ensuing detachment of the adhesive agent.
  • Objects of the invention
  • In this context, the main object of the present invention is to provide a method and an automatic device for obtaining insulated glazing particularly for refrigerated display cabinets with at least one glass spacer.
  • Another object of the present invention is to achieve the preceding object through a modular and polyvalent innovation concept.
  • Yet another object of the present invention is to achieve the preceding objects through an innovation concept that maximises the operative adaptation to the characteristics of the semi-finished products and products used.
  • A further object of the present invention is to attain any one of the aforementioned objects through a method and a device for relative implementation that are simple and efficient, safe to use and relatively inexpensive considering the actual results attained therewith.
  • Summary of the solution concept
  • All these and other objects are attained by the method for the automated manufacture of insulated glazing with at least one vitreous spacer particularly for refrigerated display cabinets according to the present invention as defined by the claims, comprising the steps implemented automatically and/or semiautomatically and controlled by the electronic logic of:

    • subjecting on at least one side the edge of the first sheet to the simultaneous linear sequential application of plasma and photopolymerization adhesive agent in superimposed strips;

    • subjecting the interface between the glass strip and first sheet to ultraviolet radiation in a linear sequential fashion;
    • pressing the glass strip on the first sheet over its entire extension;
    • subjecting the face opposite to the one already glued of the glass strip to the simultaneous linear sequential application of plasma and photopolymerization adhesive agent in superimposed strips;
    • positioning and centring a second glass sheet, typically but not necessarily co-dimensional, on the first glass sheet by interposing at least one glass spacer strip;
    • subjecting the interface between the glass strip and second sheet to ultraviolet radiation in a linear sequential fashion;
    • homogeneously pressing the second sheet on the glass strip over the entire extension of the reference edge.
  • As well as with the device for implementing the method to automatically obtain insulated glazing with at least one vitreous spacer particularly for refrigerated display cabinets according to the present invention as defined by the claims comprising:
    • suctioning bench defining a work surface for moving and locking glass sheets provided with abutment and centring means on at least two sides and overlying movable frame for supporting kinematic mechanisms and actuators for the rotary and linear movements on the axes x, y and z of the operating tools;
    • at least one first multi-distributor multifunctional tool which can be movably adjusted on the axes x and y and which can be operatively moved linearly on the axis z comprising in line on axis z a plasma generator and diffusor, a reservoir and device for applying the photosensitive adhesive agent and an ultraviolet ray lamp;

      • on a second linear extension orthogonal to the first linear extension in a parallel fashion, a linear pressing front for applying pressure on axis y above the glass sheet.
  • Advantageously, the method provides for that the plasma diffusion, the application of the photosensitive adhesive agent and the irradiation thereof with a cross-linking lamp are carried out with a single instrument and in the device of relative implementation the plasma generator and diffusor, the reservoir and the photosensitive adhesive agent applicator and the ultraviolet ray lamp are therefore carried together by a single multifunctional tool.

  • At the same time, in the L-shaped seats of the two counter-faced retention-pushing sections 14A, symmetrically carried by the internal bridge-like frames 8, stationing on a plane parallel to the work surface 4 there are respectively inserted two glass spacer strips 2, retained thereon by suctioning by the micro-suction cups 20 on the internal front 18 of the second prong 16 of the retention-pushing elements 14A. In the shown device, such operations for supplying strips 2 is designed as to be carried out manually by the operator in the facing, but it can however be mechanised in a manner suitable for the purpose,
    Upon the activation of the device 3, the external symmetrical bridge-like frames 7 are displaced in a synchronised fashion on the axes x and y from the static lateral position thereof to the sides of the work surface 4, through actuators of the per se known type, and move towards the centre to position the two multi-distributor multi-functional symmetrical tools 10 respectively on the edges of the lateral edges of the sheet 1A, and an end thereof.
  • The external symmetrical bridge-like frames 7 may be programmed with a static lateral position on the same side of the work surface 4, to facilitate the loading of the glass sheets 1 when large in size.
  • The multi-distributor multifunctional tools 10 are therefore actuated to translate linearly on an axis z, with activation of the respective plasma generator and diffusor 11 and the respective applicator for the photosensitive adhesive agent 12.
  • Each plasma generator and diffusor 11 spreads on the underlying edge of the lower glass sheet 1A a plasma layer, which has the property of slowing down the surface tension of the glass 1A for a better fixing of the adhesive agent, which is superimposed on the plasma.
  • Each applicator for the photosensitive adhesive agent 12 can actually immediately spread on the plasma layer a homogeneous or dot-like strip of the photosensitive adhesive agent.
  • It should be observed that the property of the plasma to loosen the surface tension of the glass deteriorates quickly, therefore the immediateness of the spreading of the adhesive agent on the plasma allows to maximise the fixing functions thereof and therefore the firmness of the gluing operations provided for herein.
  • In this stage, the internal symmetrical bridge-like frames 8 are in turn displaced, through actuator means of the per se known type on the axes x and y, and simultaneously rotate the two multi-functional symmetrical tools 14 from a plane parallel to the work surface 4 to a plane perpendicular thereto with reference to the relevant retention-pushing elements 14A respectively carrying the strips 2, which can be positioned on the first sheet 1A, to the edges of the latter, on the photosensitive adhesive agent and pressed thereon.
  • Alternatively to the multifunctional 14 retention-pushing 14A and pressing 14B tools may be designed without the rotational movement, with vertical supply of the strips 2 thereto, saving on the rotational movement but with greater sensitiveness required by the vertical supply.
  • The two multifunctional 14 retention-pushing 14A tools remain to push the strips 2 over and against the edges of the first sheet 1A to facilitate the adhesion, in a counteracting fashion against the low elasticity of the glass, therefore locally eliminating the fairly few defects present on the surfaces of tempered glass, especially following the surface tensions functionally induced by the temper.
  • At the same time, the multi-distributor multifunctional tools 10 are actuated, as described above, to linearly translate on axis z, this time with the activation of the respective lamps 13 for generating and irradiating UV rays respectively subjecting the interface between the strip 2 and the first sheet 1A with linear displacement of ultraviolet radiation for the entire relative extension, therefore activating the entire strip of photosensitive adhesive agent which it cross-links as a result.
  • The two multifunctional 14 retention-pushing 14A tools remain to homogeneously push the strips 2 on the edges of the first sheet 1A to facilitate the adhesion - over the entire extension thereof - of the glass strip 2 on the first sheet 1A, this meaning that such pressure is maintained constant up to the time of placing the strip 2 on the sheet 1A, otherwise the adhesive agent - by cross-linking - would not attain the adhesion in the absence of compensation of potential unevenness on the planarity of the sheet 1A and/or of the strip 2.
  • At the end of the photopolymerization and gluing of the lower side of the strips 2 on the lower glass sheet 1A, the face opposite to the one already glued of the glass strips 2, that is the upper face, is subjected to simultaneous linear displacement and application of plasma and photopolymerization adhesive agent in superimposed strips through the new introduction of the axis z, with the activation of the respective plasma generator and diffusor 11 and of the respective applicator of photosensitive adhesive agent 12.
  • A second, typically but not necessarily co-dimensional, upper glass sheet 1B is therefore positioned and centred on the first lower glass sheet 1A, by interposing spacer strips 2; even such operation for supplying the sheets 1 in the shown device is designed as to be carried out manually by the operator in the station thereof on the facing front 5, but it can be mechanised in a manner suitable for the purpose.
  • Upon positioning the second sheet 1B on the strips 2, the pressing elements 14B of the two multi-functional symmetrical tools 14, actuated as disclosed above, which with the respective pressing linear longitudinal beams 14B can be positioned on the second sheet 1B, on the edges of the latter, above the strips 2, so as to exert a pressure thereon to facilitate the adhesion, in a counteracting fashion, to the low elasticity of the glass, so as to locally eliminate the fairly few planarity defects present on the surfaces of the tempered glass especially as a result of the surface tensions functionally induced by the temper.
  • At the same time, the multi-distributor multifunctional tools 10 are actuated, as described above, to linearly translate on axis z, with the activation of the respective lamps 13 for generating and irradiating UV rays respectively subjecting the interface between the strip 2 and the second sheet 1B with linear displacement of ultraviolet radiation for the entire relative extension, therefore activating the entire strip of photosensitive adhesive agent which it cross-links as a result.
  • The two multifunctional 14 pressing 14B tools remain to homogeneously press the second sheet 1B on the edges on the strips 2 to facilitate the adhesion - over the entire extension thereof - of the glass sheet 1B on the strip 2, this meaning that such pressure is maintained constant up to the time of placing the second sheet 1B on the strip 2, otherwise the adhesive agent - by cross-linking - would not attain the adhesion in the absence of compensation of potential unevenness on the planarity of the sheet 1B and/or of the strip 2.
  • The insulated glazing formed by the two sheets 1A and 1B spaced apart from the strips 2 and glued thereto is therefore completed and can be removed, manually in the embodiment described above, or using any automatic device suitable for the purpose.
  • The cycle, as described above by way of continuation in the wholeness thereof, may also be broken, in the sense that in a first cycle the strips are applied to the first sheets, then removed from the device, and in a second cycle the insulated glazing is completed by applying the second sheets to the first sheets repositioned on the work surface.
  • Alternative embodiments
  • It is obvious that in further alternative embodiments still falling within the solution concept subject of the embodiment illustrated above and claimed below, the method for the automated manufacture of insulated glazing with at least one vitreous spacer particularly for refrigerated display cabinets and the relative implementation device, according to the present invention, may be implemented through technical and mechanical equivalents, i.e. with further supplementary solutions, same case applying to all configurations of the relative components can be varied to suit the purpose.
  • In particular:
    in the multi-distributor multifunctional tools the plasma generator and diffusor, the container and the applicator for the photosensitive adhesive agent and the lamp for generating and irradiating ultraviolet rays may however be supported, structured, conformed and interspaced in a manner suitable for the purpose, with respective diffuser means, applicators and irradiators also however positioned, protruding, oriented and directed to carry out the functions thereof in a manner suitable for the purpose.
  • The multifunctional retention-pushing and pressing tools may however be supported, structured, conformed and oriented in a manner suitable for the purpose, with the respective pressing, pushing and retention means also however positioned, protruding, oriented and directed to carry out the functions thereof in a manner suitable for the purpose; as already specifically outlined above in the dynamic description, in particular the multifunctional retention-pushing and pressing tools may alternatively be designed without rotational movement, with vertical supply of the strips thereto and with pressing functions on the glass carried out by the pressing-pushing elements.
  • Although the insulated glazing manufactured with the method and device according to the present invention with glass spacers are particularly in demand among commercial showcases with display cabinets for refrigerated products, they may also be used in the construction industry and may be used in any other technical field where thickening is meant to be concealed or in any case not be in relief with respect to solutions obtained with opaque material.
  • Advantages of the invention
  • As observable from the preceding detailed description of a preferred embodiment and from the description outlined above relating to some embodiments, the method for the automated manufacture of insulated glazing with at least one vitreous spacer particularly for refrigerated display cabinets and the device for the relative implementation according to the present invention offer advantages corresponding to the attainment of these and other preset objects:
    as a matter of fact, they integrate a functional, modular and cost-effective method and device for semiautomatically or automatically obtaining the insulated glazing with thickening made of glass actually replacing the manual implementation.
