Fig. 1 is a plan view illustrating one embodiment of the sunshade according to the present invention. -
Fig. 1 shows a sunshade 100 according to the present invention comprising a flexible panel 2 having a first surface 4 and an opposite second surface 6 in combination with two support lines 8,8a,8b. - The flexible panel 2 is having the shape of a rectangle having a periphery 10 with side portions 20a,20b,20c,20d, pairwise being separated by a vertex 22.
- A fastening means 12 in the form of a ring 28 is arranged at each vertex 22 for fastening of the flexible panel 2 to a structure.
- It is seen that the flexible panel 2 at a surface 4 thereof comprises two groups 14 of attachment elements 16 and that each group 14 comprises two attachment element 16.
- The two groups 14 of attachment elements 16 cross each other at a specific support area 30 located at a central portion of the flexible panel 2.
- Thereby each group of attachment element 16 comprises linearly extending longitudinal pockets 32 pointing at a vertex 22 and pointing at a central portion of the flexible panel 2 and each pocket defines a through-going channel 18 of the corresponding attachment element.
- The linearly extending pockets 32 are being sown onto the surface 4 of the flexible panel 2.
- In use the flexible panel 2 will be suspended to a structure by fasting the fastening means 12,28 to a structure or to a structure and to one or more poles by means of four lines.
- Due to the presence of the attachment elements 16 on the surface 4 of the flexible panel 2 and due to the support lines 8 which are accommodated in the pockets 32 thereof it is possible to tighten the support lines 8, 8a,8b and thereby stabilize the movement of the central portion 30 of the flexible panel 2 and thereby also of the panel as a whole, which movement may be caused by the wind.
-
Fig. 2 is a plan view illustrating another embodiment of the sunshade according to the present invention. In the embodiment illustrated inFig. 2 two additionally fastening means 12,28 have been included and these are positioned at side portions 20a,20c approximately midway between vertices 22. - Moreover, one additional group 14 of attachment elements 16 have been added. This group comprises two attachment elements 16 each comprising a linearly extending longitudinal pocket 32 pointing at a central portion of the flexible panel 2 and at the fastening means 12,28 positioned at side portions 20a,20c, respectively, approximately midway between vertices 22.
- Also these pockets 32 define a through-going canal 18 of the associated attachment element 16.
-
Fig. 3 is a plan view illustrating yet another embodiment of the sunshade according to the present invention. -
Fig. 3 shows an embodiment similar to that ofFig. 1 . However, inFig. 3 each group 14 of attachment elements comprises one and only one attachment element 16 having a linear extension which point at two oppositely arranged vertices 22. - The two groups 14 of attachment elements 16 cross each other at a specific support area 30 which is located at a central portion of the flexible panel 2.
-
Fig. 3 also shows that each of the support lines 8,8a,8b comprises two looped ends 36. -
Fig. 4 is a plan view illustrating still another embodiment of the sunshade according to the present invention. -
Fig. 4 shows that the flexible panel 2 is having a triangular shape, thus defining three side portions 20a,20b,20c, pairwise separated by a vertex 22. - Again, the sunshade 100 comprises groups 14 of attachment elements 16.
- In the embodiment illustrated in
Fig. 4 each group 14 of attachment elements comprises three attachment elements 16 being separated from each other and being sown onto the surface 4 of the flexible panel 2. - It is seen that each group 14 of attachment elements 16 is defining a linear extension which points a vertex and at the central portion of the flexible panel 2 which thereby defines a specific support area 30.
- Also seen in
Fig. 4 is the presence of a separate stabilizing element 24, having a though-going hole 26. The stabilizing element 24 is in the form of a rigid ring structure, and it is arranged at the specific support area 30 of the flexible panel 2 and each of the three support lines 8,8a,8,8c are being attached to this stabilizing element 24. -
Fig. 5 is a plan view illustrating a further embodiment of the sunshade according to the present invention. -
Fig. 5 shows the sunshade 100 comprising a flexible panel 2 defining a rectangle having four vertices 22 and two relatively long side portions 20a,20c and two relatively short side portions 20b,20d, each being arranged between two adjacent vertices. It is seen that a fastening means 12 in the form of a ring 28 is attached to each vertex 22. Also seen is that in respect of each side portion 20a,20b,20c,20d a fastening means 12 in the form of a ring 28 is being attached to that side portion approximately midway between two vertices. - Between two opposingly arranged side positions, groups 14 of attachment elements 16 are arranged on the flexible panel 2 so as to form a linear extension of attachment elements 16. One of these groups (the vertically arranged group 14) comprises two attachment elements 16. The other group (the horizontally arranged group 14) comprises four attachment elements 16.
- In addition, in respect of each vertex 22, a group 14 of attachment elements 16 is arranged on the flexible panel 2 so as to extent between that vertex 22 and a position arranged midway on one of the relatively long side portions 20a,20c which is not connected to that vertex.
- A support line 8 is arranged in each of the cannels defined by the attachment elements 16. Hereby there are three specific support areas 30.30',30'' of the panel 2 where the support lines will cross and thereby provide enhanced stabilization of the sunshade when being suspended.
-
Fig. 6 is a perspective view illustrating one way of attaching the sunshade of the invention to a pole. -
Fig. 6 shows a vertex area of a sunshade 100 according to the present invention comprising the vertex 22 comprising a fastening means 12 in the form of a ring 28. An attachment element 16 is pointing towards that vertex 22 of the flexible panel 2 and the through-going canal 18 defined by that attachment element 16 comprises a support line 8. - It is seen that a fastening line 44 is fastened to the the ring 28 of the fastening means 12 and that fastening line is fastened by a knot to a cleat 42 of a vertically extending pole 40 via ring 41.
- Also seen is that the support line 8 accommodated in the through-going canal 18 of the flexible panel 2 has been guided through the ring 41 and that line 8 is fastened to the cleat 41 by a knot.
- Accordingly, the fastening line 44 serves the purpose of suspending the sunshade 100 to the pole. The support line on the other hand serves the purpose of strengthening the flexible panel, thereby rendering a central area of the flexible panel less prone to flickering due to actions by the wind.
- It should be understood that all features and achievements discussed above and in the appended claims in relation to one aspect of the present invention and embodiments thereof apply equally well to the other aspects of the present invention and embodiments thereof.
