Abstract

A computer-implemented method for validating custom content to be printed on a food item may include receiving, by a platform comprising a processor and from a user device or a kiosk device via an application programming interface, the custom content in a format and including at least one of text or image content, and determining, by the platform, whether the custom content is valid based on performing at least one of a format analysis technique with respect to the format, a text analysis technique with respect to the text content, or an image analysis technique with respect to the image content. The method may also include providing, by the platform and to the user device or the kiosk device via the API, information identifying whether the custom content is valid, based on determining whether the custom content is valid.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR VALIDATING CUSTOM CONTENT TO BE PRINTED ON A FOOD ITEM

TECHNICAL FIELD
[0002]The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for validating custom content to be printed on a food item. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods for validating custom content to be printed on a food item based on whether the custom content includes prohibited image content, prohibited text content, and/or a particular format for printing on the food item.
BACKGROUND
[0003]A manufacturer of a food item may sell a food item that is printed with content that identifies the food item. For example, a manufacturer of a candy may print a standard design including a particular image or text on the candy. In some cases, a user may select an alternative design to be printed on the food item from a set of predefined and pre-approved designs. For instance, the user may select a particular design to be printed on the food item to commemorate a holiday, a special occasion, or the like.
[0004] It is desirable to permit a user to provide custom content to be printed on a food item. However, doing so introduces the following technical challenges. First, the custom content may need to be validated in order to ensure that the custom content does not include prohibited content, such as profanity, illicit images, trademarks, etc. Second, the custom content may need to be provided in a particular format that is suitable for printing on the food item. Third, the custom content may need to be validated in substantially real-time. Otherwise, the user may lose interest in ordering the food item with the custom content. SUMMARY
[0005]According to an example embodiment, a computer-implemented method for validating custom content to be printed on a food item may include receiving, by a platform comprising one or more processors and from a user device or a kiosk device via an application programming interface (API), the custom content in a format and including at least one of text content or image content; determining, by the platform, whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid based on performing at least one of a format analysis technique with respect to the format, a text analysis technique with respect to the text content, or an image analysis technique with respect to the image content; and providing, by the platform and to the user device or the kiosk device via the API, information identifying whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid, based on determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0025] As addressed above, it might be impracticable or inappropriate to permit a user to provide custom content to be printed on a food item because the custom content might include prohibited image content, prohibited text content, and an invalid format. Moreover, it might be impracticable or impossible to manually validate such custom content in substantially real-time.
[0026]To address at least the foregoing, the present disclosure provides systems and computer-implemented methods for receiving custom content to be printed on a food item, determining whether the custom content is valid, and providing information identifying whether the custom content is valid. The systems and computer- implemented methods may perform the foregoing operations in substantially real-time. In this way, the present disclosure provides a technical improvement in the technical field of content analysis by permitting a user to provide custom content for printing on a food item and automatically determining whether the custom content is appropriate and/or valid in an expeditious manner. Moreover, the present disclosure improves the viability of custom content provisioning by providing instruction information identifying how to rectify invalid custom content in the event that one or more portions of the custom content are invalid. Further still, the present disclosure further improves the viability of custom content provisioning by, in some embodiments, automatically adjusting the custom content such that the custom content is valid for printing on the food item.

Given these dimensions, the platform 130 may determine whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid in order to ensure that the custom content is capable of being properly printed on the food item.

Because the custom content is printed in a dither format, shading might be specific to each skin tone for proper printing. In the case where the food item is circular, the printing might be done within the printable circular area of the food item without touching the edges. Accordingly, the printing device 160 may perform fine printing work with high accuracy. In such cases, the custom content might be converted to a black and white dither image, and white space is applied based on shading requirements. Moreover, in some cases, the printing device 160 might be limited to printing capability of 413 DPI. The platform 130 may be configured to ensure that the foregoing technical problems are addressed.

The prohibited text content may include profanity, suggestive language, particular names, trademarks, or the like. The platform 130 may perform the text analysis technique using any number of languages.

For instance, if the custom content includes image content depicting two faces, then the platform 130 may provide instruction information identifying that one of the faces should be removed from the image content. As another example, if the custom content includes profanity, then the platform 130 may provide instruction information identifying the detected profanity and suggesting that the profanity be removed from the textual and/or image content. In some cases, the platform 130 may provide suggestion information suggesting how to rectify the invalid content. For instance, the platform 130 may provide a suggestion of how to change the custom content such that the custom content is valid.
[0074] In some embodiments, the platform 130 may automatically format the custom content such that the custom content is valid. For example, the platform 130 may change a file format of the custom content to be a particular file format, may change a DPI setting of the custom content, may change a PPI setting of the custom content, may change a resolution of the custom content, may remove an image border, may remove white space, may add an image filter, may apply dithering, may apply pointillism, or the like. In some embodiments, the platform 130 may automatically adjust the text content of the custom content (e.g., remove or replace with alternate text) such that the resulting custom content does not include prohibited text content. In some embodiments, the platform 130 may automatically adjust the image content of the custom content (e.g., remove, blur, obfuscate, or replace with alternate image) such that the resulting custom content does not include prohibited image content.
[0075] FIGs. 5A-5C are diagrams of an example user interface 500 for validating custom content to be printed on a food item. As shown in FIG. 5A, the user interface 500 may display a prompt 510 indicating to the user that the user can upload custom content to be printed on a food item. As shown in FIG. 5B, the user interface 500 may display custom content 520 based on the user uploading the custom content 520. In this case, the custom content 520 includes image content of the user. As shown in FIG. 5C, and based on the custom content 520 being valid, the user interface 500 may display a prompt 530 indicating that the custom content 520 is valid, and that the custom content 520 can be printed on the food item. In this way, a user may interact with the user interface 500 to complete an order for the food item including the custom content 520.
[0076] FIGs. 6A-6C are diagrams of an example user interface 600 for validating custom content to be printed on a food item. As shown in FIG. 6A, the user interface 600 may display a prompt 610 indicating to the user that the user can upload custom content to be printed on a food item. As shown in FIG. 6B, the user interface 600 may display the custom content 620 based on the user uploading the custom content 620, and display the custom content 630 based on the user inputting the custom content 630 via the user interface 600. In this case, the custom content 620 includes image content, and the custom content 630 includes text content. As shown in FIG. 6C, the user interface 600 may display a prompt 640 indicating that the custom content 630 is invalid because the custom content 630 includes prohibited text content such as profanity. As further shown in FIG. 6C, the user interface 600 may display instruction information 650 including an instruction on how to change the custom content 630 in order to render the custom content 630 valid.

Claims

CLAIMS We claim:
1 . A computer-implemented method for validating custom content to be printed on a food item, the computer-implemented method comprising: receiving, by a platform comprising one or more processors and from a user device or a kiosk device via an application programming interface (API), the custom content in a format and including at least one of text content or image content; determining, by the platform, whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid based on performing at least one of a format analysis technique with respect to the format, a text analysis technique with respect to the text content, or an image analysis technique with respect to the image content; and providing, by the platform and to the user device or the kiosk device via the API, information identifying whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid, based on determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid.
2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid comprises: determining whether the custom content includes prohibited image content based on performing the image analysis technique.
3. The computer-implemented method of any one of claims 1 or 2, wherein determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid comprises: determining whether the custom content includes prohibited text content based on performing the text analysis technique.
4. The computer-implemented method of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid comprises: determining whether the custom content includes a particular format based on performing the format analysis technique.
5. The computer-implemented method of any one of claims 1 to 4, further comprising: based on determining that the custom content is invalid, providing information identifying a particular invalid portion of the custom content.
6. The computer-implemented method of any one of claims 1 to 5, further comprising: based on determining that the custom content is invalid, providing instruction information identifying how to change the custom content.
7. The computer-implemented method of any one of claims 1 to 6, further comprising: based on determining that the custom content is invalid, automatically adjusting the custom content.
8. The computer-implemented method of claim 7, wherein automatically adjusting the custom content comprises at least one of: adjusting the text content of the custom content; adjusting the image content of the custom content; or adjusting the format of the custom content.
9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein adjusting the format of the custom content comprises at least one of: changing a dots-per-inch (DPI) setting of the custom content; changing a resolution of the custom content; removing a border of the custom content; removing whitespace in the custom content; applying an image filter to the custom content; applying dithering to the custom content; or applying pointillism to the custom content.
10. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein adjusting the text content of the custom content comprises removing at least a portion of the text content or replacing at least a portion of the text content with alternate text content.
11. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein adjusting the image content of the custom content comprises removing at least a portion of the image content, obfuscating at least a portion of the image content, or replacing at least a portion of the image content with alternate image content.
12. A platform for validating custom content to be printed on a food item, the platform comprising: a memory configured to store instructions; and a processor configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising: receiving, from a user device or a kiosk device via an application programming interface (API), the custom content in a format and including at least one of text content or image content; determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid based on performing at least one of a format analysis technique with respect to the format, a text analysis technique with respect to the text content, or an image analysis technique with respect to the image content; and providing, to the user device or the kiosk device via the API, information identifying whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid, based on determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid.
13. The platform of claim 12, wherein determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid comprises: determining whether the custom content includes prohibited image content based on performing the image analysis technique.
14. The platform of any one of claims 12 or 13, wherein determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid comprises: determining whether the custom content includes prohibited text content based on performing the text analysis technique.
15. The platform of any one of claims 12 to 14, wherein determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid comprises: determining whether the custom content includes a particular format based on performing the format analysis technique.
16. The platform of any one of claims 12 to 15, wherein the operations further comprise: based on determining that the custom content is invalid, providing information identifying a particular invalid portion of the custom content.
17. The platform of any one of claims 12 to 16, wherein the operations further comprise: based on determining that the custom content is invalid, providing instruction information identifying how to change the custom content.
18. The platform of any one of claims 12 to 17, wherein the operations further comprise: based on determining that the custom content is invalid, automatically adjusting the custom content.
19. The platform of any one of claim 18, wherein automatically adjusting the custom content comprises at least one of: adjusting the text content of the custom content; adjusting the image content of the custom content; or adjusting the format of the custom content.
20. A non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations for validating custom content to be printed on a food item, the operations comprising: receiving, from a user device or a kiosk device via an application programming interface (API), the custom content in a format and including at least one of text content or image content; determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid based on performing at least one of a format analysis technique with respect to the format, a text analysis technique with respect to the text content, or an image analysis technique with respect to the image content; and providing, to the user device or the kiosk device via the API, information identifying whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid, based on determining whether the custom content to be printed on the food item is valid.
