Description
- The present invention relates to a system for the complete closure of a hatch of a ship or the like.
- A ship's hold for storage of at least one tender or the like comprises a floor, a ceiling, a hatch, provided in a wall and closed at least partially by means of at least one hatch door, and further comprises at least one portion of deck forming the ceiling of the hold.
- To perform the closure and opening of the hatch door with respect to the hatch, it is known to use, for example, electric actuators.
- In particular, the hatch doors, when closing, must compress a sealing gasket inserted along the entire perimeter of the hatch.
- The force required to compress the gasket is always greater than the force of the electric actuators that move the hatch door. Once the hatch door comes into contact with the gasket, the total closure of the hatch with compression of the gasket takes place by inserting electromechanical shutters (so-called "dogs") into corresponding seats arranged along the perimeter of the hatch.
- In particular, the movement of the shutter is controlled by a mechanically irreversible electric cylinder.
- However, in the marine sector, all mechanical components must be manually operable in the event of failure.
- Document
discloses a system for the complete closure of a hatch of a ship or the like.IT 10202000023671 A1 - One object of the present invention is to provide a system for the complete closure of a hatch of a ship or the like, which allows the use of a mechanically irreversible electric cylinder to control the movement of a shutter (dog) for the complete closure of the hatch door of a hatch, but also allows manual control of the movement of the shutter in the event of emergency or failure.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a system as specified, which has a simple structure and reliable and safe operation.
- In view of these objects, the present invention provides a system for the complete closure of a hatch of a ship or the like, the essential characteristic of which forms the subject of claim 1.
- Additional advantageous features of the invention are described in the dependent claims. Features and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the detailed description that follows of an exemplary embodiment, with reference to the attached drawing, which shows important details for the invention, as well as from the claims.
- The features illustrated herein are not necessarily to be understood to scale and are represented in such a way that the features according to the invention are clearly highlighted.
- The various features may be implemented individually or in any combination thereof, as variants of the invention.
- In the drawing:
-
fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of a hatch shutter for ship's hatch, shown in the sealed closed condition of the hatch; -
fig. 2 is a view similar to that offig. 1 , in which however the shutter is shown in the open condition of the hatch; -
fig. 3 is a top plan view of the shutter offig. 1 , provided with an electric actuator in a first operating condition; -
fig. 4 is a top plan view of the shutter offig. 2 , provided with said electric actuator in a second operating condition; -
fig. 5 is a top plan view similar to that offig. 3 , but in which said electric actuator is positioned in a first out-of-service position; -
fig. 6 is an axial sectional view of the shutter offig. 5 with electric actuator; -
fig. 7 is a front elevation view of the shutter offig. 5 with electric actuator. - With reference to the drawing, the system according to the invention comprises a shutter 10, which includes a cylindrical stem 11 sliding in a cylindrical tubular sleeve 12, having a closed bottom 12.1 and an anterior end 12.2, axially opposite the bottom 12.1 and open. Said stem 11 has a front end or head 11.1 with truncated-cone shape, at said opening 12.2. Said shutter 10 is, for example, fixed to an inner face of a ship's wall, at a hatch selectively closed by a hatch door (both not shown). At said shutter 10, in the hatch door, there is arranged a bushing 13, with a cavity having a conical profile complementary to the conicity of said head 11.1 of the stem 11 and axially aligned with the stem itself. In this way, during the closing of the hatch door against a perimeter seal of the hatch, the head 11.1 of the stem 11 (controlled to extend relative to the front opening 12.2 of the sleeve 12) penetrates into the bushing 13, performing a closing and self-centering action.
- It is noted that said stem 11 has a fixed radial arm 11.2, close to the head 11.1 and extending through a corresponding axial slot 12.3, provided in the tubular sleeve 12. The length of the slot 12.3 determines the axial travel limits of the stem 11 with respect to the sleeve 12.
- Said arm 11.2 supports a first radial pin 11.3, which can slide in a corresponding first blind radial hole 11.4, which is interrupted (in intermediate position) by a second blind hole 11.5, with an axis parallel to the axis of the sleeve 12, both said holes 11.4 and 11.5 being open on respective faces of said arm 11.2, while the second hole 11.5 is also open on an adjacent face.
- Said sleeve 12 supports, near the bottom 12.1, a second radial pin 12.4, external, whose axis is preferably arranged in a plane containing the axis of the first radial pin 11.3 and of the stem 11.
- An electric cylinder 14 comprises a cylindrical tubular housing 14.1 and a stem 14.2 extensible and retractable with respect to the housing 14.1.
- Said housing 14.1 has, at its rear end, a first pivot eye 14.3, and said stem 14.2 has, at its front end, a second pivot eye 14.4.
- Said electric cylinder 14 is connected, in an articulated manner, with respect to said housing 14.2 by the articulation formed by said first pivot eye 14.3 and said second radial pin 12.4.
- Said electric cylinder 14 is connected, in an articulated manner, with respect to said radial arm 11.2 by the articulation formed by said second pivot eye 14.4 and said first radial pin 11.3.
- By means of the above arrangement, the electric cylinder 14 can control the extension and retraction of the head 11.1 of the stem 11 relative to the front opening 12.2 of the sleeve 12 of the shutter 10.
- Said shutter 10 further comprises:
- a first control screw 15, arranged passing through a corresponding through hole 12.5 provided in the bottom 12.1 of the sleeve 12 and having an axis parallel to the axis of the sleeve itself, wherein said first screw 15 has a head 15.1 external to said bottom (and provided with slot or recess for a handling tool) and a threaded shank engaged by helical coupling in a corresponding threaded hole 11.6, provided in the bottom of the stem 11 and having an axis parallel to the axis of the stem itself;
- a second control screw 16, having a threaded shank engaged by helical coupling in a corresponding threaded hole 12.6, provided in the bottom 12.1 of the sleeve 12 and having an axis parallel to the axis of the sleeve itself, wherein said screw 16 rests with the free end of its shank against the bottom of said stem 11 and has a head 16.1 external to the bottom 12.1 of the sleeve 12 and provided with slot or recess for a handling tool.
- Operation of the shutter 10 in case of failure of the electric cylinder 14:
- the first pin 11.3 is manually extracted from the first blind radial hole 11.4 of the arm 11.2, freeing the second pivot eye 14.4 of the stem 14.2 of the electric cylinder 14;
- the electric cylinder 14 is manually rotated around the second pivot pin 12.4 engaged by the first pivot eye 14.3, thereby separating the stem 14.2 of the electric cylinder 14 from the stem 11;
- one of the two control screws 15 or 16 is manually inserted into the respective hole 12.5 or 12.6 of the bottom 12.1 of the sleeve 12 and is then manually operated, using a specific tool, on one of the two control screws 15 or 16, depending on the desired maneuver, namely:
- if screw 15 is further inserted into the corresponding threaded hole 11.6 of the stem 11 and screwed using said tool, this causes the retraction of the head 11.1 of the stem 11 with respect to the bushing 13, i.e., the shutter 10 disengages the hatch door of the hatch;
- if the control screw 16 is screwed into the corresponding threaded hole 12.6 provided in the bottom 12.1 of the sleeve 12, this causes the extension of the head 11.1 of the stem 11 relative to the bushing 13, i.e., the shutter 10 engages the hatch door of the hatch.
- As appears from the foregoing, the present invention provides a system for the complete closure of a hatch of a ship or the like, which achieves in a simple and effective way the objects outlined above.
