- ropes in particular steel wire ropes
- an elevator such as for example in drive units and in overspeed governors.
- pulley assembly where a pulley spins freely on its axle and the rope runs over a pulley groove.
- the rope guard is not only to cover and protect the rope but also intended to prevent the rope from jumping out of the groove. This requires a certain stiffness to keep the rope in the groove in case it gets slack or the tension changes rapidly due to stopping events of the lift or similar.
- the rope guard is usually mounted on a fixed component, such as a frame.
- the technical task underlying the present invention is to propose a pulley assembly for an elevator and a method for installing a pulley assembly in an elevator, which overcome the drawbacks in the prior art as described above.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a pulley assembly for an elevator, which is safe as known solutions, but simpler and quicker to produce and install.
- a pulley assembly for an elevator comprising: a pulley having a groove in which a rope is destined to run over; a frame; a rope guard mounted on the frame so that it surrounds at least partially the pulley groove.
- the rope guard comprises a first element and the frame comprises a second element, the first element and the second element being shaped so as to fit one inside the other or vice versa so that the rope guard and the frame are rigidly coupled.

- the first element 4a is shaped so that it abuts on the frame 6 and cannot disengage the second element 6a.
- the first element 4a is a tab protruding from the rope guard 4 and the second element 6a is a hole obtained in the frame 6.
- the tab 4a is fitted into the hole 6a.
- the tab 4a is shaped so that it cannot disengage the hole 6a.
- the tab 4a protrudes from the hole 6a and abuts on the frame 6.
- the tab 4a abuts on one side of the frame 6 (of the side plate 7) which is opposite to the side where is located the rest of the rope guard 4.
- the tab 4a is twisted with respect to the hole 6a so that disengage is not possible.
- the tab 4a can be configured in a first condition and a second condition which are respectively defined by an axis of the tab 4a assuming two different tilt angles with respect to a reference axis.
- first condition the tab 4a is able to pass through the hole 6a (for mounting operations).
- second condition the tilt is such that the tab 4a cannot pass through the hole 6a (for working conditions).
- the reference axis and the axis of the tab 4a are parallel to each other.
- the second condition is preferably characterized in that the twisted tab 4a has at least two distinct portions abutting on the frame 6.
- the two portions are two opposite ends or two vertices.
- the tab 4a and the hole 6a have matching shapes to facilitate the passing through of the tab 4a into the hole 6a.
- the tab 4a is then twisted to define the rigid coupling.
- both the tab 4a and the hole 6a have a rectangular-like section.
- the shape is not limiting as long as the tab 4a can pass through the hole 6a and then be twisted so as to not being able to disengage.
- the rope guard 4 comprises at least one protruding portion 8.
