Description

A SCREEN BACKING
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a screen backing which enables to close the gap occurring behind during connection of a rear-view screen into a vehicle - particularly to a column A- and to hide the elements being connected to the rearview screen from the rear, in vehicles comprising an exterior rear-view camera and a rear-view screen whereby an image captured by the exterior rear-view camera is transferred.
Background of the Invention
With the advancement of automotive industry and technology, different solutions are utilized instead of exterior rear-view mirrors and thus a camera takes the place of rear-view mirrors that are placed outside the vehicle and the camera transfers the images that it captures from outside the vehicle, to a screen located in a slot within the vehicle in an embedded way so as to be viewed by the driver. The screen is placed into a slot located on a column A and thereby the screen creates an integrity with the covering on the column. When it is desired to move the screen turn right and left or up and down in the slot wherein it is located in an embedded way particularly on the column A within the vehicle, the connecting pieces located behind the screen appear and the gap causing the inner part of the column to appear occurs. Therefore, today there is need for a solution which will prevent the gaps that may occur on the rear part of the screen from appearing upon the screen, that is located in any position within the vehicle, is moved where it is connected and thereby aesthetic problems are eliminated. The United States patent document no. US10946798, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system for presenting images -which are captured from rearview mirror cameras of a vehicle- to a drivers. In the system included in the said invention, other vehicles located next to and behind the vehicle are viewed by means of rear-view cameras that are placed on lateral surfaces of the vehicle body and enable to view the rear and side part of the vehicle; images captured from rear-view cameras are presented to drivers upon they are transmitted to screens that drives can look in inside the vehicle during normal driving. In the said invention, images captured from rear-view cameras are presented to drivers by using screens which are placed into A columns.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to realize a screen backing which enables to hide the gap that will occur in connection of a rear-view screen to a vehicle and/or between the screen and the vehicle connection (point) upon the screen is moved, and the electronic and/or mechanical elements that remain behind the rear-view screen together with the gap and that are connected to the screen, in vehicles comprising an exterior rear-view camera and a rear-view screen whereby an image captured by the exterior rear-view camera is transferred.
Detailed Description of the Invention
“A Screen Backing” realized to fulfil the objective of the present invention is shown in the figures attached, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view relating to use of the inventive screen backing together with a screen.
Figure l is a side view of the inventive screen backing.
Figure 3 is a rear view of the inventive screen backing. The components illustrated in the figures are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Backing
2. Cover
3. Skirt
4. Border
D: Screen
The inventive screen backing (1) which is used to close the gaps that may occur between the screen (D) and the vehicle connection (point) on the rear part of the screen (D) when it is desired to move the screen (D) at the point where it is connected, in vehicles comprising a screen (D) in connection with a side rear-view camera comprises: at least one cover (2) which is configured to be located on the rear surface of the screen (D) whereby no image is transferred to driver and to almost cover the said surface; and at least one skirt (3) which is configured to be located at the other end of the cover (2) that is not connected to the screen (D) such that it will have a structure integrated with the cover (2), to be made of a material that is more flexible compared to the cover (2), and to cover the gaps that may occur between the screen (D) and the connection (point) behind the screen (D) by stretching in its movements at the point where the screen (D) is connected.
In the invention, the cover (2) comprises a skirt (3) that has an integrated structure with the screen (D) from one end thereof, whereas it has a flexible structure at the other end thereof wherein no screen (D) is located and that will cover the volume wherein the mechanical parts whereto the screen (D) will be connected are located. The cover (2) is configured to hold the screen (D) and comprise connection channels for mechanical and/or electronic elements that are required for the screen (D). The skirt (3) is made of a material that is more flexible compared to the cover (2). Thus, the skirt (3) can stretch at the point where the cover (2) is turned together with the screen (D) and thereby it avoids a gap formation.
In the inventive screen backing (1), the cover (2) is made of materials with different stiffness by using a bi-injection method together with the skirt (3). In the production method of the backing (1), the cover (2) and the skirt (3) -which is more flexible compared to the cover (2)- are produced by being pressed in one die such that they will be in one piece by means of a bi-injection molding method.
In the inventive screen backing (1), the skirt (3) is located at the end of the cover (2) that is not connected to the screen (D) and it preferably comprises the external borders (4) that will almost cover the volume wherein the screen (D) is located and prevent a gap from appearing from the outside. The skirt (3) comprises the external borders (4) that will cover the said volume while it is in the column A. Thereby, the skirt (3) both closes the gaps that may occur at the point where the screen (D) is connected and also prevents the formation of sounds and vibrations that may be created by the screen (D) on the column A by means of its flexible structure and due to the fact that it does not separate in the column wherein it is connected by stretching upon the screen (D) is moved, it prevents the formation of gaps that may be created on the rear side thereof. In a preferred embodiment, the skirt (3) is made of a rubber material.
In the inventive screen backing (1), the external borders (4) are made of a material more flexible compared to the cover (2). The external borders (4) are made of the same material with the skirt (3) and preferably a rubber material is used. In the production method of the screen backing (1), the external borders (4) are produced together with the cover (2) and the skirt (3) in the same die. The inventive screen backing (1) is located on the rear part of the screen (D) that is situated on the column A within the vehicle and it allows the left-right and/or up-down movement of the screen (D) by means of the flexible skirt (3) it has and it also avoids voice/rattle problems. Due to the fact that it enables to cover the volume at the position wherein it is connected to the vehicle column A by means of the skirt (3), the screen backing (1) will not allow a gap to occur by preventing the said volume to appear in the event that the screen (D) is moved. With the screen backing (1) made of rubber material, the unwanted visible area behind the screen (D) is hidden in all positions when the screen (D) is turned.
Within these basic concepts; it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive “Screen Backing (1)”; the invention cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.
