Description

A REFRIGERATOR COMPRISING A UV LIGHT SOURCE
The present invention relates to a refrigerant comprising a UV light source.
There are many pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses or harmful substances such as pesticide residues on the packaged foods, fruits and vegetables placed in the refrigerator. Especially when the packaged foods are placed in compartments without being cleaned, harmful microorganisms and substances on the packages directly threaten human health. Moreover, although vegetables and fruits are consumed after being washed, sometimes cleaning with water is not sufficient to remove bacteria and viruses.
In the state of the art, in order to provide the user with cleaner and safer foodstuffs, there are refrigerators comprising shelves or drawers with UV light sources.
In order to perform the sterilization process without harming the user, the state of the art cooling devices comprising the UV light source are enabled to emit light only when the door of the cooling device is closed.
In the state of the art, there are refrigerators wherein the UV light sources are activated after the sensors provided on the door of the cooling device detect that the door is closed. However, if there is a problem in the detection ability of the sensor in said refrigerators, it becomes impossible to prevent the UV light source from being activated and the user from being exposed to ultraviolet rays when the user opens the door and the drawer wherein the UV light source is disposed.
Moreover, in the cooling devices wherein the door cannot be detected to be closed, the user may be exposed to UV rays when the door or the drawer is opened.
In the state of the art Patent Document No. WO2013126961, a refrigerator is disclosed, comprising a drawer wherein the UV light source is disposed, a glass plate which covers the UV light source, and a metal frame which is used for attaching the glass plate to the body. However, in the state of the art patent document, a movable plate structure which can cover the UV light source is not disclosed. The aim of the present invention is the realization of a refrigerator comprising a movable plate which prevents the dispersion of UV rays when a drawer comprising the UV light source is opened by the user.
The refrigerator of the present invention comprises a support whereon at least one UV light source is disposed, and a plate which is provided under the support and which ensures that the UV rays are dispersed in the drawer only when the drawer is closed. The plate is moved so as to be positioned in front of the UV light sources as the drawer is shifted from the closed position to the open position. Thus, when the drawer is in the open position, any light dispersion from the UV light source is prevented. Consequently, the user is not exposed to UV rays when the drawer is in the open position.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the support is a shelf which is placed onto the drawer and which is suitable for attaching the UV light source.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the plate comprises a metal material or a Teflon material. Thus, the plate gains a reflective feature without being damaged by the UV rays.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the support and the plate have the same width and length.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the UV light source is a source which emits light at the UVC wavelength. The UVC light sources emit a light in the range of 160-280 nm.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the UV light source is a U-shaped fluorescent lamp or a flat fluorescent lamp.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the plate further comprises a rear part which extends towards the rear wall of the drawer in perpendicular to the support.
In an embodiment of the present invention, an opening aligning with the part on the support where the UV light source is placed is provided on the plate.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the support and the plate are connected to each other by means of a spring. One end of said spring is connected to the support by means of a first connection member and the other end of the spring is connected to the plate by means of a second connection member. Thus, the plate can slidably move under the support. A force is exerted on the rear part of the plate when the drawer is closed. By means of said force, the spring stretches and the plate moves so as to be positioned in front of the UV light source.
In the refrigerator of the present invention, the plate further acts as a reflector which enables the UV rays to disperse in the drawer while not covering the UV light sources.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the plate comprises a cover which extends towards the opening. In this embodiment, when the drawer is opened by the user, the force on the rear part is removed, and the spring is compressed and pushes the plate such that the cover extending towards the opening covers the UV light source so as to prevent the dispersion of the UV rays.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the cover is a part integrated with the plate which gains a depth by depressing the plate towards the drawer. By means of the deep structure, the UV rays are more efficiently prevented from dispersing.
By means of the present invention, a refrigerator is realized, which is operated such that the UV rays are emitted only when the drawer is closed.
The refrigerator realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 - is the perspective view of the refrigerator of the present invention.
Figure 2 - is the perspective view of the support comprising the UV light source and the drawer in the refrigerator of the present invention.
Figure 3 - is the exploded view of the drawer, the support and the plate in the refrigerator of the present invention.
Figure 4 - is the sideways view of the cross-section A-A in Figure 2.
Figure 5 - is the detailed view of the B region in Figure 4.
