Abstract

A connector housing assembly and a connector are disclosed. The connector housing assembly comprises: a housing (10) provided with an insertion port (13) for mating with a mating connector and an installation port; a shielding connection member (20) connected to the housing (10) and adapted to be mounted to a shell (100) of an electrical equipment; and a sealing cover (30) connected to the shielding connection member (20) and formed with a through hole (31, 32, 33) through which an electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) passes. A mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the shielding connection member (20) and a mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) are sealed, so that water vapor cannot enter the shell (100) of the electrical equipment from the inside of the housing (10). In the invention, the water vapor path inside the connector housing assembly is sealed, so that water vapor can be prevented from entering into the shell of the electrical equipment from the inside of the connector housing assembly.

Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the benefit of Chinese Patent Application No. 202121525736.2 filed on July 6, 2021 in the State Intellectual Property Office of China, the whole disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention
  • The invention relates to a connector housing assembly and a connector including the connector housing assembly.
  • Description of the Related Art
  • In the prior art, in order to realize the electrical connection between the electrical equipment and the power supply or other equipment, it is usually necessary to pre install a connector on the shell of the electrical equipment, which can be quickly matched with the mating connector on the power supply or other equipment, so that the electrical connection between the electrical equipment and the power supply or other equipment can be conveniently realized.
  • After the connector on the electrical equipment is matched with the mating connector, the seal can be realized between the connector and the mating connector. However, before assembly with the mating connector, there is a gap in the housing of the connector pre-installed on the electrical equipment, and the external water vapor can enter the interior of the electrical equipment from the inside of housing of the connector, which will damage the electrical equipment and even cause safety accidents.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention has been made to overcome or alleviate at least one aspect of the above mentioned disadvantages.
  • According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a connector housing assembly comprising: a housing provided with an insertion port for mating with a mating connector and an installation port opposite to the insertion port; a shielding connection member connected to the housing and adapted to be mounted to a shell of an electrical equipment; and a sealing cover connected to the shielding connection member and formed with a through hole through which an electrical connection member passes. A mating interface between the sealing cover and the shielding connection member and a mating interface between the sealing cover and the electrical connection member are sealed to prevent water vapor from entering into the shell of the electrical equipment from the inside of the housing.
  • According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a mating interface between the housing and the shielding connection member and a mating interface between the shielding connection member and the shell of the electrical equipment are sealed to prevent water vapor from entering into the shell of the electrical equipment from the outside of the housing.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a seal member is arranged at the mating interface to seal the mating interface.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the seal member comprises a sealing strip, a sealing block, a sealing ring or a sealant.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, an elastic sealing block is arranged in the sealing cover, and the elastic sealing block seals the mating interface between the sealing cover and the electrical connection member.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the sealing cover comprises a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the through hole is formed in the bottom wall of the sealing cover; the peripheral wall of the sealing cover radially compresses the elastic sealing block to hermetically fit with the elastic sealing block; the electrical connection member passes through the elastic sealing block and is hermetically fitted with the elastic sealing block.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the sealing cover comprises a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the through hole is formed in the bottom wall of the sealing cover; a sealant is coated on the mating surfaces of the electrical connection member and the through hole to seal the mating interface between the electrical connection member and the through hole.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a first elastic sealing ring is arranged between the mating surfaces of the shielding connection member and the housing, and the first elastic sealing ring is compressed between the mating surfaces of the shielding connection member and the housing to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member and the housing.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a second elastic sealing ring is arranged between the sealing cover and the shielding connection member, and the second elastic sealing ring is axially compressed between the sealing cover and the shielding connection member to seal the mating interface between the sealing cover and the shielding connection member.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the sealing cover comprises an accommodation cavity surrounded by a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the accommodation cavity has an end opening opposite to the bottom wall; the sealing cover has a lip part located at the end opening, and the second elastic sealing ring is axially compressed between the lip part of the sealing cover and the bottom surface of the shielding connection member.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a third elastic sealing ring is arranged on the bottom surface of the shielding connection member in contact with the shell of the electrical equipment, and the third elastic sealing ring is adapted to be axially compressed between the shielding connection member and the shell of the electrical equipment to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member and the shell of the electrical equipment.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the connector housing assembly further comprises a shield shell having a main body part and a contact part continuously extending from the main body part; the main body part of the shield shell is installed in the housing; the contact part of the shield shell is in electrical contact with the shielding connection member to electrically connect the shell of the electrical equipment via the shielding connection member.
  • According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the contact part comprises a contact spring sheet which extends outside the housing and is electrically connected with the shielding connection member.
  • According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a connector comprising: the above connector housing assembly; and an electrical connection member installed in the connector housing assembly and extend out of the sealing cover. The electrical connection member comprises a power connection terminal, a signal connection terminal or a connection wire.
  • According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the connector further comprises a plurality of seal members which respectively seal the mating interface between the housing and the shielding connection member, the mating interface between the shielding connection member and the sealing cover, and the mating interface between the sealing cover and the electrical connection member; the connector is sealed at the installation port of the housing.
  • In the foregoing exemplary embodiments according to the present invention, the water vapor path inside the connector housing assembly is sealed, thereby preventing water vapor from entering into the shell of the electrical equipment from the inside of the connector housing assembly.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure will be described hereinafter in detail with reference to the attached drawings, wherein the like reference numerals refer to the like elements. The present disclosure may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiment set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that the present disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the concept of the disclosure to those skilled in the art.
  • In the following detailed description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the disclosed embodiments. It will be apparent, however, that one or more embodiments may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are schematically shown in order to simplify the drawing.
  • According to a general concept of the present invention, there is provided a connector housing assembly comprising: a housing provided with an insertion port for mating with a mating connector and an installation port opposite to the insertion port; a shielding connection member connected to the housing and adapted to be mounted to a shell of an electrical equipment; and a sealing cover connected to the shielding connection member and formed with a through hole through which an electrical connection member passes. A mating interface between the sealing cover and the shielding connection member and a mating interface between the sealing cover and the electrical connection member are sealed to prevent water vapor from entering into the shell of the electrical equipment from the inside of the housing.
  • Fig. 1 shows an illustrative perspective view of a connector housing assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; Figure 2 shows an axial sectional view of the connector housing assembly shown in Figure 1.
  • As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, in the illustrated embodiment, the connector housing assembly mainly includes a housing 10, a shielding connection member 20, and a sealing cover 30. The housing 10 has an insertion port 13 suitable for mating with a mating connector (not shown) and an installation port for mating with the shielding connection member 20 and the sealing cover 30. The shield connection member 20 is connected to the housing 10 and is adapted to be mounted to a shell 100 of electrical equipment. In the illustrated embodiment, the axis of the housing 10 coincides with the axis of the sealing cover 30.
  • As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, in the illustrated embodiment, the shielding connection member 20 may be connected to the housing 10 through the screws 12 shown in the figure, or may be connected to the housing 10 through other detachable means, for example, through a latch. Similarly, the shielding connection member 20 may be connected to the shell 100 of the electrical equipment by, for example, screws. However, the present invention is not limited to this; for example, the shielding connection member 20 may be connected to the shell 100 of the electrical equipment by other detachable means, for example, by a latch.
  • Figure 3 shows the exploded schematic view of the sealing cover 30 and the elastic sealing block 40 of the connector housing assembly shown in Figure 1, in which the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3 are shown.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, in the illustrated embodiment, the sealing cover 30 is connected to the shielding connection member 20, and the sealing cover 30 is formed with through holes 31, 32 and 33 through which the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3 pass. In the illustrated embodiment, the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20 and the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3 are sealed so that water vapor cannot enter the shell 100 of the electrical equipment from the inside of the housing 10.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, in the illustrated embodiment, the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10 and the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the shell 100 of the electrical equipment are sealed so that water vapor cannot enter the shell 100 of the electrical equipment from the outside of the housing 10.
  • As shown in Fig. 1 to Fig. 3, in the illustrated embodiment, seal members are provided at the above-mentioned mating interfaces to seal these mating interfaces. In an embodiment of one embodiment of the present invention, the seal member may be a sealing strip, a sealing block, a sealing ring or a sealant.
  • Fig. 4 shows the assembly diagram of the elastic sealing block 40 and the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3 shown in Fig. 3.
  • As shown in Figures 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, an elastic sealing block 40 is arranged in the sealing cover 30, which seals the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3.
  • As shown in Figures 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, the sealing cover 30 includes a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the through holes 31, 32 and 33 are formed in the bottom wall of the sealing cover 30. The peripheral wall of the sealing cover 30 compresses the elastic sealing block 40 along the radial direction of the sealing cover 30 to hermetically fit with the elastic sealing block 40. The electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3 pass through the through holes 41 and 42 on the elastic sealing block 40 and are hermetically fitted with the elastic sealing block 40.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, a first elastic sealing ring S1 is arranged between the mating surfaces of the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10, and the first elastic sealing ring S1 is compressed between the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10 along the axial direction of the housing 10 to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, a second elastic sealing ring S2 is arranged between the mating surfaces of the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20, and the second elastic sealing ring S2 is compressed between the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20 along the axial direction of the housing 10 to seal the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20.
  • As shown in Fig. 1 to Fig. 4, in the illustrated embodiment, the peripheral wall and the bottom wall of the sealing cover 30 define an accommodation cavity with an end opening opposite to the bottom wall. The sealing cover 30 has a lip part at the end opening, and the second elastic sealing ring S2 is arranged on the lip part of the sealing cover 30 and is axially compressed between the lip part of the sealing cover 30 and the bottom surface of the shielding connection member 20.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, a third elastic sealing ring S3 is arranged on the bottom surface of the shielding connection member 20 in contact with the shell 100 of the electrical equipment. The third elastic sealing ring S3 is compressed between the shielding connection member 20 and the shell 100 of the electrical equipment along the axial direction of the housing 10 to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the shell 100 of the electrical equipment.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, the connector housing assembly also includes a shield shell 11. The shield shell 11 has a main body part mounted in the housing 10 and a contact part 11a connected to the main body part and continuously extending from the main body part. The contact part 11a of the shield shell 11 extends to the outside of the housing 10 and is in electrical contact with the shielding connection member 20, so that the shield shell 11 can be electrically connected to the shell 100 of the electrical equipment via the shielding connection member 20.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, the contact part 11a includes a contact spring sheet which extends outside the housing 10 and is electrically connected with the shielding connection member 20. In the illustrated embodiment, the main body part of the shield shell 11 is in a cylindrical shape. The contact part 11a is connected to the lower end of the cylindrical main body part and bent outward. The contact part 11a of the shield shell 11 is in electrical contact with the inner wall surface of the shielding connection member 20, so that the shield shell 11 can be electrically connected to the shell 100 of the electrical equipment via the shielding connection member 20.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, the electrical connection members 1, 2, and 3 include a power connection terminal 1, a signal connection terminal 2, or a connection wire 3.
  • In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the electrical connection members 1, 2, and 3 may be components on a connector housing assembly or components on the electrical equipment. As shown in Figs. 1 to 4, in the illustrated embodiment, the signal connection terminal 2 is a component on the connector housing assembly, the power connection terminal 1 and the connection wire 3 are components on the electrical equipment.
  • Fig. 5 shows an axial sectional view of a connector housing assembly according to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 6 shows an illustrative perspective view of the sealing cover 30 and the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3 of the connector housing assembly shown in Fig. 5.
  • The main difference between the connector housing assembly shown in Figs. 5 and 6 and the connector housing assembly shown in Figs. 1 to 4 lies in the different sealing methods at some mating interfaces.
  • As shown in Figs. 5 and 6, in the illustrated embodiment, the axis of the housing 10 is inclined to the axis of the sealing cover 30 at a predetermined angle. In this way, the mating connector housing assembly of the mating connector can be inserted into the housing 10 of the connector housing assembly at a predetermined angle.
  • As shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, in the illustrated embodiment, the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20, the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3, and the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10 are sealed with sealant G
  • As shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, in the illustrated embodiment, the sealing cover 30 includes a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the through holes 31, 32 and 33 are formed in the bottom wall of the sealing cover 30. Sealant G is coated on the mating surfaces of the electrical connection members 1, 2, 3 and the through holes 31, 32, 33 to seal the mating interface between the electrical connection member 1, 2, 3 and the through hole 31, 32, 33 of the sealing cover 30.
  • As shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, in the illustrated embodiment, sealant G is coated on the mating surfaces of the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10 to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the housing 10.
  • As shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, in the illustrated embodiment, sealant G is coated on the mating surfaces of the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20 to seal the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the shielding connection member 20.
  • As shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, in the illustrated embodiment, an elastic sealing ring S is arranged on the bottom surface of the shielding connection member 20 in contact with the shell 100 of the electrical equipment. The elastic sealing ring S is compressed between the shielding connection member 20 and the shell 100 of the electrical equipment along the axial direction of the sealing cover 30 to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the shell 100 of the electrical equipment.
  • In addition to the above differences, other technical features of the connector housing assembly shown in Figs. 5 and 6 are basically the same as those shown in Figs. 1 to 4, which can refer to the connector housing assembly shown in Figures 1 to 4 and will not be repeated here.
  • In another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a connector is also disclosed. The connector comprises the connector housing assembly and electrical connection members 1, 2 and 3. The electrical connection members 1, 2, and 3 are mounted in the connector housing assembly and extend out of the sealing cover 30. In the illustrated embodiment, the electrical connection members 1, 2, and 3 may include a power connection terminal 1, a signal connection terminal 2 or a connection wire 3.
  • As shown in Figs. 1 to 6, in the illustrated embodiment, the connector may also include a plurality of seal members S, S1, S2, S3, 40, G The plurality of seal members are used to seal the mating interface between the housing 10 and the shielding connection member 20, the mating interface between the shielding connection member 20 and the sealing cover 30, and the mating interface between the sealing cover 30 and the electrical connection member 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Therefore, in the illustrated embodiment, the connector is sealed at the installation port of housing 10.
  • It should be appreciated for those skilled in this art that the above embodiments are intended to be illustrated, and not restrictive. For example, many modifications may be made to the above embodiments by those skilled in this art, and various features described in different embodiments may be freely combined with each other without conflicting in configuration or principle.
  • Although several exemplary embodiments have been shown and described, it would be appreciated by those skilled in the art that various changes or modifications may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the disclosure, the scope of which is defined in the claims and their equivalents.
  • As used herein, an element recited in the singular and proceeded with the word "a" or "an" should be understood as not excluding plural of said elements or steps, unless such exclusion is explicitly stated. Furthermore, references to "one embodiment" of the present invention are not intended to be interpreted as excluding the existence of additional embodiments that also incorporate the recited features. Moreover, unless explicitly stated to the contrary, embodiments "comprising" or "having" an element or a plurality of elements having a particular property may include additional such elements not having that property.

Claims (15)

  1. A connector housing assembly, comprising:
    a housing (10) provided with an insertion port (13) for mating with a mating connector and an installation port opposite to the insertion port (13);
    a shielding connection member (20) connected to the housing (10) and adapted to be mounted to a shell (100) of an electrical equipment; and
    a sealing cover (30) connected to the shielding connection member (20) and formed with a through hole (31, 32, 33) through which an electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) passes,
    wherein a mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the shielding connection member (20) and a mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) are sealed to prevent water vapor from entering into the shell (100) of the electrical equipment from the inside of the housing (10).
  2. The connector housing assembly according to claim 1,
    wherein a mating interface between the housing (10) and the shielding connection member (20) and a mating interface between the shielding connection member (20) and the shell (100) of the electrical equipment are sealed to prevent water vapor from entering into the shell (100) of the electrical equipment from the outside of the housing (10).
  3. The connector housing assembly according to claim 2,
    wherein a seal member (S, S1, S2, S3, 40, G) is arranged at the mating interface to seal the mating interface.
  4. The connector housing assembly according to claim 3,
    wherein the seal member (S, S1, S2, S3, 40, G) comprises a sealing strip, a sealing block, a sealing ring or a sealant (G).
  5. The connector housing assembly according to claim 1,
    wherein an elastic sealing block (40) is arranged in the sealing cover (30), and the elastic sealing block (40) seals the mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3).
  6. The connector housing assembly according to claim 5,
    wherein the sealing cover (30) comprises a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the through hole (31, 32, 33) is formed in the bottom wall of the sealing cover (30);
    wherein the peripheral wall of the sealing cover (30) radially compresses the elastic sealing block (40) to hermetically fit with the elastic sealing block (40);
    wherein the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) passes through the elastic sealing block (40) and is hermetically fitted with the elastic sealing block (40).
  7. The connector housing assembly according to claim 1,
    wherein the sealing cover (30) comprises a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the through hole (31, 32, 33) is formed in the bottom wall of the sealing cover (30);
    wherein a sealant (G) is coated on the mating surfaces of the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) and the through hole (31, 32, 33) to seal the mating interface between the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) and the through hole (31, 32, 33).
  8. The connector housing assembly according to claim 1,
    wherein a first elastic sealing ring (S1) is arranged between the mating surfaces of the shielding connection member (20) and the housing (10), and the first elastic sealing ring (S1) is compressed between the mating surfaces of the shielding connection member (20) and the housing (10) to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member (20) and the housing (10).
  9. The connector housing assembly according to claim 1,
    wherein a second elastic sealing ring (S2) is arranged between the sealing cover (30) and the shielding connection member (20), and the second elastic sealing ring (S2) is axially compressed between the sealing cover (30) and the shielding connection member (20) to seal the mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the shielding connection member (20).
  10. The connector housing assembly according to claim 9,
    wherein the sealing cover (30) comprises an accommodation cavity surrounded by a peripheral wall and a bottom wall, and the accommodation cavity has an end opening opposite to the bottom wall;
    wherein the sealing cover (30) has a lip part located at the end opening, and the second elastic sealing ring (S2) is axially compressed between the lip part of the sealing cover (30) and the bottom surface of the shielding connection member (20).
  11. The connector housing assembly according to claim 1,
    wherein a third elastic sealing ring (S3) is arranged on the bottom surface of the shielding connection member (20) in contact with the shell (100) of the electrical equipment, and the third elastic sealing ring (S3) is adapted to be axially compressed between the shielding connection member (20) and the shell (100) of the electrical equipment to seal the mating interface between the shielding connection member (20) and the shell (100) of the electrical equipment.
  12. The connector housing assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 11, further comprising:
    a shield shell (11) having a main body part and a contact part (11a) continuously extending from the main body part;
    wherein the main body part of the shield shell (11) is installed in the housing (10);
    wherein the contact part (11a) of the shield shell (11) is in electrical contact with the shielding connection member (20) to electrically connect the shell (100) of the electrical equipment via the shielding connection member (20).
  13. The connector housing assembly according to claim 12,
    wherein the contact part (11a) comprises a contact spring sheet which extends outside the housing (10) and is electrically connected with the shielding connection member (20).
  14. A connector, comprising:
    the connector housing assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 13; and
    an electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) installed in the connector housing assembly and extend out of the sealing cover (30),
    wherein the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3) comprises a power connection terminal (1), a signal connection terminal (2) or a connection wire (3).
  15. The connector according to claim 14, further comprising:
    a plurality of seal members (S, S1, S2, S3, 40, G) which respectively seal the mating interface between the housing (10) and the shielding connection member (20), the mating interface between the shielding connection member (20) and the sealing cover (30), and the mating interface between the sealing cover (30) and the electrical connection member (1, 2, 3),
    wherein the connector is sealed at the installation port of the housing (10).
