Description

A COOKING DEVICE COMPRISING A SAFETY MEMBER
  • The present invention relates to a cooking device comprising a safety member used in ovens and cookers with gas burners.
  • Safety members (thermic member) used for burners provided on the burner plate in cooking devices such as ovens or cookers enables the gas transferred to the burners to be cut off in order to prevent the gas from dispersing in the environment in case the flame goes out during the operation of the burners. If supplied by the flame released through the main holes, the safety members decide that there is no flame in case of fluttering of the flame, in other words in case of unsteady burning, and cuts off the gas. As the burners go out quickly, this situation causes an unwanted situation also for the producer and causes customer complaint.
  • In the state of the art, the safety members are supplied by the flame released through the pilot holes on the burners. Therefore, the end of the safety member is designed so as to be aligned with the pilot holes. In case the pilot holes vary in different types of burners, the safety member may be disposed at an undesired position. This prevents the safety member from operating properly. Forming an inclination or bend in order for the end of the safety member to be aligned with the flame released through the pilot hole in order to solve this problem causes the failure of the mounting of the burner plate.
  • In another state of the art embodiment, the molds of the burner chamber and the burner plate can be redesigned and thus the existing safety members can be used; however, this solution deteriorates the cooperation and causes problems in terms of costs.
  • In the state of the art United States Patent No. US8381714, a cooking device is disclosed, comprising a burner with a geometry ensuring a proper burning.
  • In the state of the art United States Patent No. US5133334, a cooking device is disclosed, comprising a burner with a different geometry.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooking device comprising a safety member used in ovens and cookers with gas burners.
  • The cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a guide which enables the safety member to be properly mounted so as to align with the pilot hole, which is provided oppositely on the body of the safety member and the housing of the safety member, which provides the fixing by fitting into each other and which, otherwise, prevents the mounting of the safety member. In this embodiment, by means of the guide, the safety member is ensured to be mounted only in a single manner, thus enabling the safety member to operate safely in case of gas leaks.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooking device comprises a guide which enables the safety member to be properly mounted so as to align with the pilot hole and which has a protrusion provided on the body of the safety member and a recess aligning with the protrusion and provided on the housing of the safety member.
  • The safety member must be supplied by the pilot holes which provide steady flames in order to ensure the proper operation thereof. Otherwise, the safety member cannot detect the flame in case of an unsteady flame and cuts off the gas. This may cause the burner to go out in a short time after being ignited.
  • By means of the present invention, the end of the safety member is enabled to be supplied by the pilot hole instead of the main hole. In the cooking device of the present invention, the safety member comprises two pieces, which is a body and a housing which receives the body.
  • The housing is fixed to the burner plate during assembly. By means of the step provided on the base of the housing, the housing is ensured to be mounted to the burner plate only in a single manner. After the mounting of the housing of the safety member, the burner head is mounted and fixed with screws.
  • After the mounting and screwing of the burner head, the body of the safety member is fitted onto the housing. During the assembly, the protrusion on the body is aligned with the recess on the wall of the housing. Thus, the body of the safety member is ensured to be mounted only in a single manner. Otherwise, the mounting process cannot be realized. As the body is completely fitted onto the housing, the electrical connection extending from the housing towards the body is also made.
  • By means of the present invention, the safety member can be used with different burners by changing the structure of the body and keeping the housing same.
  • Moreover, by means of the present invention, the body and the end of the safety member are aligned with the flame outlet of the pilot hole instead of the flame outlet of the main hole. The safety member supplied with the flame released through the pilot hole instead of the main hole is prevented from immediately cutting off the gas in case of instantaneous unsteady flame. Thus, the problems such as the burner going out quickly which may result in customer dissatisfaction and product return are eliminated. Moreover, the burner head and the burner plate, which are the common components, can be safely used with different types of burners without revising the molds.
  • A cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a cooking device.
  • Figure 2 - is the perspective view of a burner and a safety member.
  • Figure 3 - is the exploded view of the safety member.

  • The cooking device (1) comprises a burner (2); a burner plate (3), a burner plate (4) seated onto the burner plate (3), a plurality of main holes (5) arranged on the periphery of the burner head (4) and a plurality of pilot holes (6) arranged in between the main holes (5), which all together form the burner (2); a safety member (7) which has a body (8) a housing (9) which receives the body (8); and a guide (10) which enables the safety member (7) to be properly mounted such that the end thereof aligns with the pilot hole (6), which is oppositely positioned on the body (8) and the housing (9) and which provides the fixing by being fitted over each other. The guide (10) is oppositely positioned on the body (8) and the housing (9), thus providing the fixing by being fitted over each other. Otherwise, the body (8) and the housing (9) cannot be connected to each other, thus preventing the operation of the safety member (7). In this embodiment, by means of the guide (10), the safety member (7) is ensured to be mounted only in a single manner, thus enabling the safety member (7) to operate safely in case of gas leaks (Figure 1 and Figure 2).
  • The safety member (7) must be supplied by the pilot holes (6) which provide steady flames in order to ensure the proper operation thereof. Otherwise, the safety member (7) cannot detect the flame in case of an unsteady flame and cuts off the gas. This may cause the burner (2) to go out in a short time after being ignited. By means of the present invention, the end of the safety member (7) is enabled to be supplied by the pilot hole (6) instead of the main hole (5).
  • In the cooking device (1) of the present invention, the safety member (7) comprises two pieces, which is a body (8) and a housing (9) which receives the body (8). In the preferred embodiment, the body (8) comprises a bend which is parallel to the direction of the housing (9). Thus, the end of the safety member (7) can be easily guided towards the pilot hole (6) (Figure 3).

In the embodiment of the present invention, the recess (11) and the protrusion (12) are quadrilateral.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooking device (1) comprises a step (13) which is provided on the base of the housing (9) and a step housing (14) which is provided on the burner plate (3) and which receives said step (13). Since the step (13) and the step housing (14) are quadrilateral, the housing (9), hence the safety member (7), is ensured to be mounted to the burner plate (3) only in a single direction. In this embodiment, during the assembly, the housing (9) is fixed to the burner plate (3) by means of a fixing member (15), preferably a nut, from under the step housing (14). By means of the step (13) provided on the base of the housing (9), the housing (9) is ensured to be mounted to the burner plate (3) only in a single manner. After the mounting of the housing (9) of the safety member (7) to the burner plate (3), the burner head (4) is mounted and fixed with screws.
  • After the mounting and screwing of the burner head (4), the body (8) is fitted onto the housing (9). During the assembly, the protrusion (11) on the body (8) is aligned with the recess (12) on the wall of the housing (9). Thus, the body (8) is ensured to be mounted only in a single manner. Otherwise, the mounting process cannot be realized. As the body (8) is completely fitted onto the housing (9), the electrical connection extending from the housing (9) towards the body (8) is also made.
  • By means of the present invention, the safety member (7) can be used with different burners (2) by changing the structure of the body (8) and keeping the housing (9) same. Moreover, by means of the present invention, the body (8) and the end portion of the body (8) are aligned with the flame outlet of the pilot hole (6) instead of the flame outlet of the main hole (5). The safety member (7) supplied with the flame released through the pilot hole (6) instead of the main hole (5) is prevented from immediately cutting off the gas in case of instantaneous unsteady flame. Thus, the problems such as the burner (2) going out quickly which may result in customer dissatisfaction and product return are eliminated. Moreover, the burner head (4) and the burner plate (3), which are the common components, can be safely used with different types of burners (2) without revising the molds.
