Abstract

The present invention relates to a cooling device (1) comprising a body (2); at least one compartment (3) which is provided in the body (2) and wherein the foodstuffs are stored; a first door (4) and a second door (5) which cover the body (2) and provide access into the compartment (3) and which are positioned on the body (2) so as to be side by side; and at least one partition (6) which covers the gap between the first door (4) and the second door (5) when the first door (4) and the second door (5) are closed.

Description

    A COOLING APPLIANCE COMPRISING A PARTITION
  • The present invention relates to a cooling device, in particular a refrigerator, which comprises a partition preventing air ingress into the body from the outer environment.
  • The refrigerators having a large inner volume and a capacity for storing more products is one of the most important criteria for the users. Therefore, the producers design refrigerators with gradually larger volumes. For example, French door refrigerators designed with a larger volume is considered as elegant by the users and preferred thanks to the capacity thereof to store more products. In said refrigerators, both the fresh food compartment and the freezing compartment have double doors which are positioned side by side on the body and which can be opened/closed towards each other. In said French door refrigerators, in order to access at least one of the fresh food or freezing compartments, the air from the outer environment must be prevented from entering the refrigerator body via the gap between the doors. A partition is provided in the French door refrigerators such that the refrigerator maintains the optimum temperature determined for preventing the spoilage of foodstuffs and operates properly. Said partition moves between the two doors while the doors are being opened/closed and thus does not prevent the opening of the doors, and covers the gap between the two doors so as to provide insulation when the doors are closed.
  • Said partition is mounted to any one of the two doors of the refrigerator by being screwed to a connection hinge. However, said mounting process results in additional costs and causes the partition to malfunction due to the deformation of the screw in the course of time.
  • In the state of the art Chinese Patent Document No. CN104567231, a flip beam applied to a refrigerator is disclosed. The flip beam comprises rotating shafts used for connecting the base body with a refrigerator middle door.
  • In the state of the art Turkish Patent Document No. TR2017/18032, a hinge is disclosed, which is used for mounting the partition between the refrigerator doors.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device comprising an easily-mountable partition in order to prevent air ingress into the body through the gap between the doors in cooling devices comprising at least two doors covering the body.
  • Another aim of the present invention is the realization of the cooling device comprising a movable partition which is mounted without screws in order to provide the insulation of the body in French door refrigerators.
  • The cooling device of the present invention has a structure which provides the easy mounting of the movable partition preventing air ingress into the body in the French door refrigerators.
  • The cooling device of the present invention comprises at least one slide hinge which enables the partition to be mounted to the first door without any screws. The slide hinge provides the movement of the partition between the door plastic inner liner and the door sheet metal and also enables the partition to be easily mounted to the first door without using any screws.
  • The door whereto the partition is mounted is the first door while the other door next to the first door on the body is the second door.
  • The first door comprises at least one slide through which the slide hinge is slid so as to mount the partition to the first door. Said slide is provided on the first door. The slide is joined with the slide hinge and thus the partition is mounted to the first door.
  • The slide comprises at least one claw so as to be fixed to the first door. The said claw is in the form of a protrusion extending from one surface of the slide outwards and engages with the housing on the first door, thus enabling the slide to be fixed to the first door.
  • By means of the present invention, a cooling device is realized, comprising an easily-mountable partition preventing air ingress into the body through the gap between the doors in cooling devices comprising at least two doors.
  • The model embodiments relating to the cooling device and the partition realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention are illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 - is the exploded view of the first door, the second door and the partition in an embodiment of the cooling device of the present invention.
  • Figure 2 - is the front view of the cooling device of the present invention.
  • Figure 3 - is the front view of the inner surfaces of the doors facing the body when the first door and the second door of the cooling device of the present invention are closed.
  • Figure 4 - is the front view of the inner surface facing the body of the first or second door of the cooling device of the present invention after the partition is mounted.
  • Figure 5 - is the sideways view of the cross-section B-B in Figure 4.

  • The cooling device (1) comprises a body (2); at least one compartment (3) which is provided in the body (2) and wherein the foodstuffs are stored; a first door (4) and a second door (5) which cover the body (2) and provide access into the compartment (3) and which are positioned on the body (2) so as to be side by side; and at least one partition (6) which covers the gap between the first door (4) and the second door (5) when the first door (4) and the second door (5) are closed.
  • The cooling device (1) of the present invention comprises at least one slide hinge (8) which is provided on the partition (6) and which enables the partition (6) to be mounted to the first door (4), and the first door (4) which has at least one slide (10) wherein the slide hinge (8) is slidably mounted.
  • The cooling device (1) of the present invention comprises the partition (6) having the at least one slide hinge (8) for covering the gap between the first door (4) and the second (5) when the first door (4) and the second door (5) disposed side by side on the body (2) are closed so as to prevent air ingress into the body (2). The door with the slide (10) thereon is the first door (4), and the slide hinge (8) on the partition (6) is slid on the slide (10) on the first door (4), thus mounting the partition (6) onto the first door (4). As the slide hinge (8) is attached to the first door (4) by means of the slide (10), the partition (6) can be mounted to the first door (4) without using any screws.
  • The first door (4) and the second door (5) comprise each a door plastic inner liner (7) and a door sheet metal (9) in order to form the door of the cooling device (1). By means of the slide (8), the partition (6) moves at an angle of 90 degrees between the door sheet metal (9) and the door plastic inner liner (7), and when the first door (4) and the second door (5) are closed, the partition (6) opens from the door plastic inner liner (7) towards the door sheet metal (9) such that the partition (6) covers the gap between the first door (4) and the second door (5).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device (1) comprises at least one housing (12) which is provided on the first door (4) and which enables the slide (10) to be fixed to the first door (4). Thus, the slide (10) can be seated and mounted onto the first door (4).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device (1) comprises at least one claw (11) which is provided on the slide (10) and which enables the slide (10) to be mounted to the housing (12). Thus, by engaging the claw (11) with the housing (12), the slide (10) is fixed to the first door (4).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device (1) comprises a slide (10) which is produced from a material, preferably polyoxymethylene (POM), suitable for slidably fitting the slide hinge (8). Polyoxymethylene is suitable for a wide range of utilization temperatures and can be embedded into the polyurethane material in the door plastic inner liner (7), and thus the slide (10) produced from polyoxymethylene has a long economic life due to a low coefficient of friction. Thus, the slide (10) can be easily mounted to the first door (4), and the slide hinge (8) can easily hold onto the slide (10) surface after being slidably fitted into the slide (10).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device (1) comprises two slide hinges (8) which are provided on the partition (6) at equal distances from the central point (O) of the vertical length of the partition (6). Consequently, the partition (6) is enabled to be mounted to the first door (4) in a more balanced manner.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device (1) comprises two slides (10) which are provided on the first door (4) at equal distances from the central point (O) so as to align with the slide hinges (8) and enable the two slide hinges (8) at equal distances from the central point (O) of the partition (6) to be fitted in.
  • By means of the present invention, in a cooling device (1) comprising at least two doors (4, 5) positioned side by side on the body (2), the partition (6), which is mounted to the first door (4) having the slide (10) thereon in order to prevent air ingress through the gap between the doors (4, 5) into the body (2), can be easily mounted without requiring any connection elements.

Claims (6)

  1. A cooling device (1) comprising a body (2); at least one compartment (3) which is provided in the body (2) and wherein the foodstuffs are stored; a first door (4) and a second door (5) which cover the body (2) and provide access into the compartment (3) and which are positioned on the body (2) so as to be side by side; and at least one partition (6) which covers the gap between the first door (4) and the second door (5) when the first door (4) and the second door (5) are closed, characterized by at least one slide hinge (8) which is provided on the partition (6) and which enables the partition (6) to be mounted to the first door (4), and the first door (4) which has at least one slide (10) wherein the slide hinge (8) is slidably mounted.
  2. A cooling device (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by at least one housing (12) which is provided on the first door (4) and which enables the slide (10) to be fixed to the first door (4).
  3. A cooling device (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by at least one claw (11) which is provided on the slide (10) and which enables the slide (10) to be mounted to the housing (12).
  4. A cooling device (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by a slide (10) which is produced from a material, preferably polyoxymethylene, suitable for slidably fitting the slide hinge (8).
  5. A cooling device (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by two slide hinges (8) which are provided on the partition (6) at equal distances from the central point (O) of the vertical length of the partition (6).
  6. A cooling device (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by two slides (10) which are provided on the first door (4) at equal distances from the central point (O) so as to align with the slide hinges (8) and enable the two slide hinges (8) at equal distances from the central point (O) of the partition (6) to be fitted in.
