Description

A SCREW CAP Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a screw cap, which enables to conceal the connecting screws, and provides mounting ease and can be easily disassembled and does not cause problems such as being easily displaced, falling and getting lost.
Background of the Invention
There are holes provided for screw fitting on the roof rack which is connected with screws. Plugs are mounted on the screws that are fitted to the said holes to provide an aesthetically acceptable appearance. By means of the plug mounted on the screw, the stylistic integrity of the roof rack is ensured. An aesthetically pleasant appearance is achieved with the plug. However, the plugs applied on the screws mounted in the roof rack assembly easily get displaced and lost due to vibration or environmental conditions.
The United States patent document no. US8448407, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a two sided connecting member. However the connection in the said invention is performed by threads.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a screw cap which can be easily mounted and removed by the operator. Another objective of the present invention is to provide a screw cap which covers the hole and does not get displaced due to impacts such as vibration.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A screw cap developed to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1. is a perspective view of the double-sided lug system.
Figure 2. is a side sectional view of the double-sided lug system on the roof rack. Figure 3. is a perspective sectional view of the double-sided lug system on the roof rack.
The components shown in the figures are given reference numbers as follows:
1. Screw cap
2. Connection housing
3. Roof rack
31. Hole
4. Body
41. First surface
42. First resilient piece
43. First lug
44. Second surface
45. Second resilient piece
46. Second lug
The screw cap (1), which enables to conceal the connecting screws, and provides mounting ease and can be easily disassembled and does not cause problems such as being easily displaced, falling and getting lost, essentially comprises at least one connection housing (2) which is connected to the vehicle roof by the help of connecting members,
at least one roof rack (3) which is placed on the connection housing (2), at least one hole (31) provided on the roof rack (3) such that it is concentric with the point where the connection housing (2) is connected to the vehicle roof by means of the connecting members,
at least one body (4) which passes through the hole (31),
at least one first surface (41) which is located on one end of the body (4), at least one first resilient piece (42) extending from the first surface (41) along the body (4),
at least one first lug (43) which is positioned on the first resilient piece (42), at least one second surface (44) which is located on the other end of the body
(4),
at least one second resilient piece (45) extending from the second surface (44) along the body (4) such that it is symmetrical to the first resilient piece (42), at least one second lug (46) which is positioned on the second resilient piece (45).
In the screw cap (1) of the present invention, there is provided a connection housing (2) which is connected to the vehicle roof by the help of the connecting members, and a roof rack (3) is placed on the connection housing (2). A hole (31) is drilled on the roof rack (3), and said hole (31) is concentric with the point at which the connection housing (2) is connected to the vehicle roof by means of the connecting members. A hollow cylindrical body (4) is passed through the hole (31). The disc-shaped surface of the cylindrical body (4) is the first surface (41). There is provided a first resilient piece (42) extending from the first surface (41) along the central axis of the body (4). One end of the first resilient member (42) contacts the first surface (41) but the other end is free, and can thus stretch from the side surface of the body (4) into or out of the body (4). A first lug (43) is positioned on the first resilient piece (42). The first lug (43) is positioned such that it faces the outer surface of the body (4). On the other end of the body (4), there is provided an arrow-shaped second surface (44). The second surface (44) is located at the other end of the hole (31). There is provided a second resilient piece (45) extending from the second surface (44) along the central axis of the body (4). One end of the second resilient member (45) contacts the second surface (44) but the other end is free, and can thus stretch from the side surface of the body (4) into or out of the body (4). A second lug (46) is positioned on the second resilient piece (45). The second lug (46) is positioned such that it faces the outer surface of the body (4). After mounting the connection housing (2) of the present invention onto the vehicle roof, the roof rack (3) is mounted onto the connection housing (2). The connection members connecting the connection housing (2) to the vehicle roof can be seen through the hole (31) on the roof rack (3). The screw cap (1) is used to conceal the said connecting members. By means of the first lug (43) and the second lug (46) of the screw cap (1), the body (4) is prevented from coming out of the hole (31) due to the vibration occurring when the vehicle is moving. This is because the first lug (43) prevents the body (4) from getting out from one end of the hole (31), while the second lug (46) prevents the body (4) from getting out from the other end of the hole (31). In addition, the first resilient piece (42) and the second resilient piece (45) provided on the body (4) allow the operator to easily remove the screw cap (1) from the hole (31). This way, a screw cap (1) is realized which provides mounting ease and can be easily disassembled and does not cause problems such as being easily displaced, falling and getting lost.
