Description

BOX FOR A DISPLAY CASE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention concerns a box suitable to be hung on a display case, for example for the sale of pharmaceutical products, food products or other, and therefore, in particular, a box suitable to contain small or medium-sized products, possibly housed inside blisters or suchlike.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
As is known, boxes for display cases generally comprise a box-shaped containing body, which can be made of cardboard or suchlike, from which an attachment flap emerges, by means of which the boxes can be hung on a display case, for example a rack, a counter display or suchlike.
The attachment flap therefore protrudes from the containing body and is generally provided with a hole or suchlike in order to hang the box on a hook of the display case.
A known box which could be used in a display case is described for example in document US-A-2004/256273.
A first disadvantage of known boxes for display cases concerns the presence of the known attachment flap, since the attachment flap creates objective difficulties during the production process of the box and in particular in the end- of-line steps. In these steps the box must be suitable for cartoning and packaging, for example with other boxes, so that, naturally, the protruding flap must be suitably folded toward the containing body of the box.
Another disadvantage of known boxes for display cases is the objective difficulty of providing for such boxes an anti-tampering system which is reliable. In fact, in boxes that do not have to be hung in correspondence with the normal snap-on lid normally provided on the upper part of the box, another flap is provided which can be glued on the snap-on lid.
This solution, as can be understood and also considering the presence of the attachment flap, is difficult to apply for boxes for display cases.
A known solution for the application of an anti-tampering system for boxes for display cases provides to apply permanent glue on the lateral flaps or wings of the containing body before closing the snap-on lid. The solution, however, proves to be not very effective or reliable, since it does not allow the tampering to be seen from the outside, as it requires the lid to be opened.
Another known solution is to use portions of adhesive tape able to join the attachment flap to the containing body of the box, but this solution is rather complex, impractical and difficult to make.
Another known solution provides to make a box for display cases in which an attachment flap is added on the long side of the box, while in correspondence with the lid of the box, typically provided on the short side, the flap is provided glued with permanent glue over the snap-on lid of the box, as for normal boxes not for display cases.
In this way, in practice, the anti-tampering function is carried out by means of a flap provided above the lid of the box, as in normal boxes, and the function of attaching the box on the display case is carried out by means of the additional attachment flap on the long side.
This last solution, however, has several disadvantages, since first of all a special box must be made with a long side suitable to accommodate an attachment flap, so it is necessary to make an ad hoc box. Moreover, the fact of hanging a box for display cases from the long side obviously entails a greater bulk of the box itself on the display case.
Other limitations and disadvantages of conventional solutions and technologies will be clear to a person of skill after reading the remaining part of the present description with reference to the drawings and the description of the embodiments that follow, although it is clear that the description of the state of the art connected to the present description must not be considered an admission that what is described here is already known from the state of the prior art.
There is therefore a need to perfect a box for a display case which can overcome at least one of the disadvantages of the state of the art.
One purpose of the present invention is therefore to provide a box for a display case which can easily be hung on a display case and, at the same time, is equipped with safe and reliable anti-tampering means.
Another purpose of the present invention is therefore to provide a box for a display case equipped with an attachment element integrated into the containing body and which can perform both an anti-tampering function and an attachment function.
Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a box for display cases in which the attachment element remains effectively closed during, for example, the transport or the end-of-line cartoning operations provided during the production steps of the box, and can be lifted to proceed to hang the box on the display case, without prejudice to the integrity of the anti-tampering means provided.
Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a box for a display case which is simple, substantially of standard size and which can be easily and effectively hung from the display case so as to allow considerable savings of space on the display case itself.
The Applicant has devised, tested and embodied the present invention to overcome the shortcomings of the state of the art and to obtain these and other purposes and advantages.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is set forth and characterized in the independent claims, while the dependent claims describe other characteristics of the invention or variants to the main inventive idea.
In accordance with the above purposes, a box for display cases according to the invention comprises a containing body with an aperture to introduce and remove items contained therein, a hinged lid with at least one closing flap suitable to open or close access to the aperture of the containing body by means of rotation around a respective connection hinge to an edge of the aperture of the containing body, and at least one attachment element protruding from the containing body.
According to one aspect of the invention, the attachment element is provided with at least a first anti-tampering flap hinged on one side to the containing body and connected, in a folded condition, on the closing flap of the lid by means of permanent and frangible attachment means, and at least a second attachment flap, as an extension of the first anti-tampering flap to which it is connected by means of a hinge; the second attachment flap has a first rotated position, in which it is connected releasably on the first anti-tampering flap, and by means of temporary attachment means, and a second rotated position, separate and distanced from the first anti-tampering flap, in which the second attachment flap is free with respect to the first anti-tampering flap and is able to be attached to a support element of a display case; the first anti-tampering flap and the second attachment flap are both positioned only on one same head side of the containing body and the anti- tampering flap is positioned between the temporary attachment means and the permanent and frangible attachment means.
The head side is a short side of the containing body and the first anti- tampering flap can be connected to the short side by means of a pre-creasing defining the hinge that allows a certain folding with respect to the containing body.
The short side can be part of a rear or front wall of the containing body.
The width of the attachment element can be equal to the extension of the short side to which it is connected.
The anti-tampering flap can be attached to the closing flap of the lid by means of permanent and frangible glue.
The attachment flap can be attached to the anti-tampering flap by means of temporary glue of the open-and-close type.
The closing flap of the lid can be foldingly connected to the containing body by a hinge.
The lid and the attachment element can be positioned on opposite walls of the containing body.
Preferably, the attachment element can be connected by a hinge to the front wall of the containing body and the closing flap of the lid can be connected by a hinge to the rear wall of the containing body.
The second attachment flap can be connected to the first anti-tampering flap by a pre-creasing that defines the hinge that allows a fold of the attachment flap with respect to the anti-tampering flap.
The second attachment flap can comprise at least an attachment hole of the box.
The second attachment flap, during use, can be configured to be positioned at about 90° with respect to the first anti-tampering flap, in the second rotated position.
The first anti-tampering flap and the second attachment flap can be configured to be folded one over the other toward the inside of the containing body, in substance overlapping, where the first anti-tampering flap is positioned above the closing flap and the second attachment flap is positioned above the first anti- tampering flap.
The first anti-tampering flap and second attachment flap can each have a depth equal to about the depth of the closing flap of the lid.
Another object of the invention is a blank, or shaped sheet, to make a box for a display case as defined heretofore.
These and other aspects, characteristics and advantages of the present disclosure will be better understood with reference to the following description, drawings and attached claims. The drawings, which are integrated and form part of the present description, show some forms of embodiment of the present invention, and together with the description, are intended to describe the principles of the disclosure.
The various aspects and characteristics described in the present description can be applied individually where possible. These individual aspects, for example aspects and characteristics described in the specification or in the attached dependent claims, can be the object of divisional applications.
It is understood that any aspect or characteristic that is discovered, during the patenting process, to be already known, shall not be claimed and shall be the object of a disclaimer.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
These and other characteristics of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of some embodiments, given as a non-restrictive example with reference to the attached drawings wherein:
- fig. 1 is a three-dimensional view of a box for a display case according to embodiments described here;
- fig. 2 is a plan view of a blank, made of cardboard or suchlike, suitable to shape the present box for a display case;
- figs. 3a-3f are three-dimensional views of a sequence, given by way of non- restrictive example, of the present box for a display case to be suspended, or for example to be transported.
To facilitate comprehension, the same reference numbers have been used, where possible, to identify identical common elements in the drawings. It is understood that elements and characteristics of one embodiment can conveniently be incorporated into other embodiments without further clarifications.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SOME EMBODIMENTS
We will now refer in detail to the various embodiments of the present invention, of which one or more examples are shown in the attached drawings. Each example is supplied by way of illustration of the invention and shall not be understood as a limitation thereof. For example, the characteristics shown or described insomuch as they are part of one embodiment can be adopted on, or in association with, other embodiments to produce another embodiment. It is understood that the present invention shall include all such modifications and variants.
Before describing these embodiments, we must also clarify that the present description is not limited in its application to details of the construction and disposition of the components as described in the following description using the attached drawings. The present description can provide other embodiments and can be obtained or executed in various other ways. We must also clarify that the phraseology and terminology used here is for the purposes of description only, and cannot be considered as limitative.
With reference to fig. 1 of the attached drawings, a box 10 for display cases according to the present invention comprises a containing body 1 1 from which an attachment element 12 protrudes.
The containing body 11 has an aperture to introduce or remove articles, products or objects contained therein.
The containing body 1 1 can be, for example, parallelepiped-shaped and can have a first wall 13, for example a rear wall, which therefore comprises a first short side S I, that is, a side with a smaller extension, and a second long side S2, that is, a side with a longer extension.
In correspondence with the short side SI and the long side S2 there are provided a first pre-creasing 14 with a smaller extension and a second pre- creasing 15 with a longer extension.
The containing body 1 1 also comprises a second wall 16, for example a front wall, which is opposite the first wall 13, see also fig. 2 showing a blank 17, or a shaped sheet, made for example of cardboard, paperboard or suchlike and suitable to make the box 10 for display cases.
The blank 17 substantially defines the plan development of the box 10.
The containing body 11 also comprises two opposite walls 18 and 19, which substantially define the lateral walls of the containing body 11.
The containing body 1 1 also comprises a bottom wall, which will be defined by the joining, for example by gluing, of the flaps 20, 21, 22 and 23 of fig. 2.
The containing body 1 1 comprises, for example on the side opposite the bottom wall, an aperture 24 for inserting and removing the articles contained in the box 10.
The aperture 24 is closed by means of a hinged, folding lid 25 connected, for example, to the first wall 13 by the pre-creasing 14, which defines a folding axis or line with respect to the first wall 13.
The lid 25 can comprise a closing flap 26 connected to the first wall 13 by the pre-creasing 14. The closing flap is suitable to open or close the access to the aperture of the containing body, by rotation around a respective hinge connecting to an edge of the aperture of the containing body 1 1 , to allow access, for example by the user or consumer, to the products, articles or objects contained in the containing body 11 itself.
The lid 25 can comprise another flap 27 connected to the closing flap 26 by means of a further pre-creasing 28, which functions as a reciprocal folding line of the flaps 26 and 27.
In correspondence with the opposite walls 18 and 19, or the lateral walls, the containing body 11 comprises a pair of flaps 29 and 30, which can cooperate with the lid 25 to make the containing body 1 1 close.
The flaps 29 and 30 are connected to the walls 18 and 19 by pre-creasings 31, which allow them to be folded with respect to the walls 18 and 19.
In the same way, the flaps 20 and 22 of the bottom wall of the containing body 1 1 also comprise pre-creasings 31 for connection to the walls 18 and 19.
The attachment element 12, integral with the containing body 1 1, is preferably positioned in correspondence with the short side S 1 of the box 10, therefore, for example, it is connected to at least one of the walls 13 or 16 by means of the smaller pre-creasing 14. The attachment element 12 is connected to the wall of the containing body 1 1 opposite the wall where the lid 25 is connected, therefore, in this example, to the second wall 16 opposite the first wall 13.
The attachment element 12 comprises a first anti-tampering flap 33 hinged on one side to the containing body 1 1, in particular connected by a hinge to the wall 16 so that it can be folded with respect to the wall 16, for example by means of the pre-creasing 14 which defines the hinge mentioned above.
The first anti-tampering flap 33 is connected, in a folded condition, to the closing flap 26 of the lid 25 by means of permanent and frangible attachment means, in particular permanent glue 37, that is, glue which joins the two elements in a stable manner and which, once separated, is no longer reusable to restore the connection between them, thus carrying out the function of highlighting the fact that tampering has occurred ("tamper evident" function).
The attachment element 12 also comprises a second attachment flap 34 connected to the first anti-tampering flap 33 and configured to be folded with respect thereto. In particular, the second attachment flap 34 is connected as an extension of the first anti-tampering flap 33 by means of another hinge. In fact, the anti-tampering and attachment flaps 33 and 34 can be reciprocally connected by another pre-creasing 35 which defines the hinge between them.
The second attachment flap 34 is configured to be folded in turn on the first anti-tampering flap 33 to be releasably connected to the first anti-tampering flap 33 by means of temporary attachment means, of the open- and-c lose type, for example temporary glue 38.
The first anti-tampering flap 33 and the second attachment flap 34 are therefore positioned both only on the same head side of the containing body 1 1, in particular the short side S 1.
In this way, the sides of the containing body 1 1 and therefore of the box 10 are advantageously left free, avoiding unwanted thicknesses on the sides of the box 10, so in this case on the walls 13, 16, 18 and 19, that is, the lateral walls of the containing body 1 1. These undesired thicknesses on the sides of the box 10 could in fact create problems, for example, during the stacking operations of the boxes 10, as well as making the external surface of the box 10 less uniform and compact. Moreover, the anti-tampering flap 33, compare for example fig. 3c and fig. 3e, is positioned between the permanent and frangible attachment means, in particular permanent glue 37, and the temporary attachment means, of the open- and-close type, for example temporary glue 38.
Here and in the present description, we mean that the temporary attachment means of the open-and-close type are such that they allow a repetition of openings and closures, and are able on each occasion to restore, following opening and for a reasonable number of times, the closed condition.
The second attachment flap 34 has a first rotated position, in which it is connected on the first anti-tampering flap 33, and a second rotated position, separate and distanced from the first anti-tampering flap 33, in which the second attachment flap 34 is free with respect to the first anti-tampering flap 33 and is able to be attached to a support element of a display case. In particular, for this purpose, in some embodiments the second attachment flap 34 is provided with at least one hole 36 or suchlike, to allow the box 10 to be attached to a display case or to a support of a display case.
The blank 17 of fig. 2 is completed by another flap 32 which, in the production and assembly of the box 10 for display cases, is attached to the wall 18.
The attachment element 12 preferably has a depth P equal to about twice the depth P3 of the flap 26 that closes the lid 25.
The depth PI of the anti-tampering flap 33 of the attachment member 12 is, preferably, substantially equal to the depth P2 of the attachment flap 34.
The depth PI of the anti-tampering flap 33 can be equal to the depth P3 of the flap 26 of the lid 25.
The depth P2 of the attachment flap 34 can be equal to the depth P3 of the flap 26 that closes the lid 25.
The attachment element 12 has a width L which is substantially equal to the extension of the short side SI of the wall 16, that is, to the width of the wall 16. Fig. 3a shows the box 10 with the lid 25 open and the flaps 29 and 30 of the lateral walls 18 and 19 raised in the open position. The flap 30 associated with the wall 19 is visible in the drawing.
The blank 17 has already been suitably folded, from the situation in fig. 2, so as to assume the box-like shape of fig. 3a and to substantially form the containing body 1 1.
The bottom wall of the box 10, defined as we said by the union of the flaps 20, 21 , 22 and 23 has been made, in a manner known per se, by suitable folding and gluing of the flaps 20, 21, 22 and 23.
In the situation of fig. 3a it is possible to fill the containing body 1 1 of the box 10 with the desired products or articles, also contained in blisters or suchlike.
Once the articles have been introduced into the containing body 1 1 of the box 10, the lid 25 is lowered by rotating the closing flap 26 around the pre-creasing 14 and inserting the flap 27 retracted into the containing body 1 1, see fig. 3b. The closing of the lid 25 is consequent to the folding of the flaps 29 and 30 toward the inside of the containing body 11, so that they are positioned under the flap 26 that closes the lid 25, as shown in fig. 3b.
On the external surface of the flap 26 that closes the lid 25 the permanent and frangible attachment means can be present, for example a suitable quantity of permanent glue 37 can be applied, see fig. 3c, and the first anti-tampering flap 33 of the attachment element 12 is folded toward the inside of the box 10 so that it adheres to the external surface of the closing flap 26, thanks to the permanent glue 37, until the situation of fig. 3d. The permanent glue 37 could be replaced by another suitable mean for the permanent and frangible attachment of the first anti-tampering flap 33 to the flap 26 that closes the lid 25 of the containing body 1 1.
The box 10, with the first anti-tampering flap 33 permanently attached to the lid 25 in the closed position, thus appears as shown in fig. 3d.
In this situation, to open the lid 25, it would be necessary to remove the first anti-tampering flap 33 attached to the closing flap 26 by means of the permanent glue 37, acting against the joining strength of the permanent glue 37.
Fig. 3d therefore shows a configuration of the box 10 suitable to hang the box 10 on a display case, with the second attachment flap 34 which is advantageously free and protruding from the containing body 1 1 of the box 10 and has the hole 36 which can be engaged in a corresponding attachment element of the display case.
The second attachment flap 34, in this situation, can be disposed rotated substantially by about 90° with respect to the first anti-tampering flap 33 which is attached to the flap 26 that closes the lid 25 of the box 10.
The attachment element 12 is preferably associated with the front wall 16 of the box 10, so that, when attachment is completed, as in fig. 3d, it is substantially aligned with the rear wall 13 of the box 10.
For the end-of-line cartooning steps, for possible packaging and subsequent transport, the attachment element 12 can be further folded, by folding the attachment flap 34 onto the anti-tampering flap 33, already attached to the lid 25 of the box 10.
The second attachment flap 34 is folded toward the inside of the box 10 around the hinge defined by the pre-creasing 35 and, on the surface of the first anti-tampering flap 33, it is possible to provide the temporary attachment means of the open-and-close type of the second attachment flap 34 on the first anti- tampering flap 33.
The temporary attachment means of the open-and-close type can be, for example, temporary glue 38, for example glue of the open-and-close type, which can be applied in the correct quantity, preferably on the surface of the anti- tampering flap 33, already in position, see fig. 3e.
The second attachment flap 34 is then folded, rotating around the hinge defined by the pre-creasing 35, completely on the first anti-tampering flap 33 of the attachment element 12, reaching the configuration of fig. 3f, in which the box 10 is perfectly compact, substantially free of protruding elements and suitable for the end-of-line cartoning, for packaging or transport. In substance, the second attachment flap 34 and the first anti-tampering flap 33 overlap, where the first anti-tampering flap 33 is positioned above the closing flap 26 and the second attachment flap 34 is positioned above the first anti-tampering flap 33.
As we said above, the first anti-tampering flap 33 and the second attachment flap 34 can have a substantially equal depth PI and P2 and, moreover, the depth can be equal to the depth P3 of the flap 26 of the lid 25, or of the aperture 24, therefore the attachment element 12 substantially adapts retracted on the containing body of the box 10, when it is in the closed configuration of fig. 3f.
The attachment element 12 can be used to hang the box 10 by simply lifting the second attachment flap 34, forcing the joining action of the temporary glue 38 and taking it into the second rotated position, for example by about 90°, so that it passes from the closed configuration of fig. 3f to the open configuration of fig. 3d.
As we said above, in fact, the second attachment flap 34 is temporarily and releasably attached and therefore easily removable and separable from the first anti-tampering flap 33 of the attachment element 12.
The present box 10 for display cases therefore has both an effective and reliable first anti-tampering flap 33, integrated in the attachment element 12, which allows to easily show any tampering that has taken place, and also an effective attachment and suspension system, represented by the second attachment flap 34 of the attachment element 12, preferably positioned on the short side SI of the box 10.
The second attachment flap 34 is connected to the first anti-tampering flap 33 in a folding manner and can possibly be removably attached to the first anti- tampering flap 33 already attached to the lid 25 in its closed position, so that the attachment element 12 is perfectly integrated in the box 10.
It is clear that modifications and/or additions of parts can be made to the box 10 for display cases as described heretofore, without departing from the field and scope of the present invention.
It is also clear that, although the present invention has been described with reference to some specific examples, a person of skill in the art shall certainly be able to achieve many other equivalent forms of boxes for display cases, having the characteristics as set forth in the claims and hence all coming within the field of protection defined thereby.
In the following claims, the sole purpose of the references in brackets is to facilitate reading: they must not be considered as restrictive factors with regard to the field of protection claimed in the specific claims.

Claims

1. Box for display case, comprising:
a containing body (11) with an aperture to introduce and remove items contained therein,
a hinged lid (25) with at least one closing flap (26) suitable to open or close access to the aperture of said containing body (1 1) by means of rotation around a respective connection hinge to an edge of the aperture of the containing body
(1 1),
and at least one attachment element (12) protruding from said containing body (1 1),
characterized in that said attachment element (12) is provided with:
at least a first anti-tampering flap (33) hinged on one side to said containing body (1 1) and connected, in a folded condition, on said closing flap (26) of the lid (25) by means of permanent and frangible attachment means (37),
and at least a second attachment flap (34), as an extension of the first anti- tampering flap (33) to which it is connected by means of another hinge,
said second attachment flap (34) having a first rotated position, in which it is connected releasably to said first anti-tampering flap (33), by means of folding on said first anti-tampering flap (33) and by means of temporary attachment means (38), and a second rotated position, separate and distanced from said first anti- tampering flap (33), in which said second attachment flap (34) is free with respect to said first anti-tampering flap (33) and is able to be attached to a support element of a display case;
said first anti-tampering flap (33) and said second attachment flap (34) both being positioned only on the same head side (SI) of the containing body (11) and said anti-tampering flap (33) being positioned between said temporary attachment means (38) and said permanent and frangible attachment means (37).
2. Box for a display case as in claim 1, characterized in that said head side is a short side (S I) of the containing body and said first anti-tampering flap (33) is connected to said short side (SI) by means of a pre-creasing (14) defining the hinge that allows a certain folding with respect to said containing body (1 1).
3. Box for a display case as in claim 2, characterized in that said short side (S I) is part of a rear or front wall (13, 16) of said containing body (1 1).
4. Box for a display case as in claim 2, characterized in that the width (L) of the attachment element (12) is equal to the extension of the short side (SI) to which it is connected.
5. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said anti-tampering flap (33) is attached to said closing flap (26) of the lid (25) by means of permanent and frangible glue (37).
6. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that the attachment flap (34) is attached to the anti-tampering flap (33) by means of temporary glue of the open-and-close type (38).
7. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said closing flap (26) of the lid (25) is foldingly connected to said containing body (1 1) by a hinge.
8. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said lid (25) and said attachment element (12) are positioned on opposite walls (13, 16) of the containing body (11).
9. Box for a display case as in claim 8, characterized in that said attachment element (12) is connected by a hinge to the front wall (16) of the containing body (1 1) and said closing flap (26) of the lid (25) is connected by a hinge to the rear wall (13) of the containing body (1 1).
10. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said second attachment flap (34) is connected to said first anti-tampering flap (33) by a pre-creasing (35) that defines the hinge that allows a fold of said second attachment flap (34) with respect to said first anti-tampering flap (33).
1 1. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said second attachment flap (34) comprises at least an attachment hole (36) of said box to a support of a display case.
12. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said second attachment flap (34), during use, is configured to be positioned at about 90° with respect to said first anti-tampering flap (33), in said second rotated position.
13. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said first anti-tampering flap (33) and said second attachment flap (34) are configured to both be folded one over the other toward the inside of said containing body (1 1).
14. Box for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said anti-tampering flap (33) and said attachment flap (34) each have a depth (PI, P2) equal to about the depth (P3) of said closing flap (26) of the lid (25).
15. Blank to make a box (10) for a display case as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that it comprises at least an attachment element (12) provided with at least a first anti-tampering flap (33) protruding from a wall (16) of said blank and a second attachment flap (34) protruding from said first anti-tampering flap (33), said first anti-tampering flap (33) being able to be positioned, during use, between temporary attachment means (38) of said second attachment element (34) to said first anti-tampering flap (33) and permanent and frangible attachment means (37) of said anti-tampering flap (33) to the box (10).
