Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Aufbringung eines optisch variablen Sicherheitselements auf eine Oberseite eines Substrats eines Wertdokuments, wobei die Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier besteht. Das optisch variable Sicherheitselement besteht aus einer Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten, die auf einen ersten Bereich der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier aufgedruckt wird. Erfindungsgemäß erfolgt vor dem Aufdrucken der Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten eine Glättung eines zweiten Bereichs der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier, wobei sich der zweite Bereich mit der Glättung und der erste Bereich mit der Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten mindestens teilweise überlappen. Damit weist die Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten für einen Betrachter im Bereich der Überlappung ein anderes Erscheinungsbild auf als außerhalb der Überlappung.

Description

  • Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Aufbringung eines optisch variablen Sicherheitselements auf eine Oberseite eines Substrat eines Wertdokuments, wobei die Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier besteht. Das optisch variable Sicherheitselement besteht aus einer Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten, die auf einen ersten Bereich der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier aufgedruckt wird.
  • Zum Schutz gegen Nachahmung oder Fälschung, insbesondere mit Farbkopierern oder anderen Reproduktionsverfahren, werden Wertdokumente, wie beispielsweise Banknoten oder Karten, mit optisch variablen Sicherheitselementen ausgestattet. Der Fälschungsschutz beruht dabei darauf, dass der visuell und einfach und deutlich erkennbare optisch variable Effekt von den oben genannten Reproduktionsgeräten nicht oder nur ungenügend wiedergegeben werden kann.
  • Derartige optisch variable Sicherheitselemente sind beispielsweise Effektfarben, bei denen eine Farbe mit Pigmenten in Form von Dünnschichtelementen versetzt ist, wobei die Dünnschichtelemente aus einer Reflektorschicht, einem Dielektrikum und einer Absorberschicht bestehen. Wird das Sicherheitselement von der Absorberseite aus betrachtet, nimmt der Betrachter eine bestimmte Farbe wahr, die sich mit Änderung des Betrachtungswinkels ändert. Derartige pigmentförmige Dünnschichtelemente, die einer Druckfarbe beigemischt werden, sind beispielsweise aus EP 0 227 423 B1 bekannt.
  • Druckfarben mit magnetisch ausrichtbaren optisch variablen Interferenzpigmenten sind beispielsweise aus EP 1880 866 A1 bekannt.
  • Die Druckqualität von Effektfarben, speziell der magnetisch orientierbaren Farben, im Siebdruck ist in hohem Maße von der Oberflächenqualität des verwendetet Substrates abhängig. Eine glatte Substratoberfläche führt zu einem deutlich homogeneren und randschärferen Druck und verbessert den optischen Effekt. Eine glattere Oberfläche eines Papiersubstrats kann beispielsweise durch Kalandrierung oder Satinierung erzeugt werden, aber auch durch Drucken eines Primers unter den Effektfarbenbereich. Bei der Kalandrierung oder Satinierung eines Papiers wird die Papierbahn während der Papierherstellung in einen sogenannten Kalander geführt, der als Rollenkalander oder als Prägekalander ausgeführt sein kann. Im Bogenkalander wird die Papierbahn zwischen übereinander angeordneten Walzen mechanisch unter Druck, Friktion und Wärme hindurchgeführt, so dass das Papier seine endgültige Oberflächenstruktur erhält, insbesondere seinen Glanz und seine Glätte. Im Prägekalander wird die Papierbahn mittels eines Prägestempels mit mechanischem Druck beaufschlagt und gegebenenfalls zusätzlich verprägt.
  • Eine Kalandrierung findet automatisch im Stichtiefdruck statt, dabei ist jedoch die Druckreihenfolge bereits festgelegt, nämlich zuerst Stichtiefdruck und dann Siebdruck. Sollte designtechnisch jedoch Stichtiefdruck über bzw. nach Siebdruck appliziert werden, kann diese Variante der Kalandrierung mittels Stichtiefdruck nicht gewählt werden. In diesem Fall wird üblicherweise ein Primer im Siebdruck im ersten Druckschritt appliziert, der zu einer glatten Oberfläche auf dem Papier führt und der anschließend mit der Effektfarbe überdruckt wird. Dies ist jedoch nur mit Maschinen des Typs Notascreen der Fa. KBA-NotaSys mit Zwischentrockner möglich. Bei Maschinen ohne Zwischentrockner sind zwei separate Durchgänge durch die Druckmaschine notwendig, die zeitaufwendig und kostenintensiv sind.
  • Der Erfindung liegt deshalb die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein gattungsgemäßes Sicherheitselement derart weiterzubilden, dass die Nachteile des Standes der Technik behoben werden und der Schutz gegenüber Fälschungen weiter erhöht wird.
  • Diese Aufgabe wird durch die Merkmale des unabhängigen Anspruchs gelöst. Weiterbildungen der Erfindung sind Gegenstand der abhängigen Ansprüche.
  • Erfindungsgemäß erfolgt vor dem Aufdrucken der Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten eine Glättung eines zweiten Bereichs der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier, wobei sich der zweite Bereich mit der Glättung und der erste Bereich mit der Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten mindestens teilweise überlappen. Damit weist die Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten für einen Betrachter im Bereich der Überlappung ein anderes Erscheinungsbild auf als außerhalb der Überlappung. Beispielsweise zeigt die Farbe für einen Betrachter im Bereich der Überlappung eine glänzende Oberfläche und außerhalb der Überlappung eine matte Oberfläche. Es erfolgt somit eine partielle Glättung des Substrates mindestens in den Bereichen, die für einen späteren Siebdruck vorgesehen sind. Dadurch wird besonders vorteilhaft eine zumindest partielle Oberflächenglättung des Substrates vor dem nachfolgenden Siebdruckprozess erzielt.
  • Das unterschiedliche Erscheinungsbild, das die Farbe für einen Betrachter im Bereich der Überlappung und außerhalb der Überlappung zeigt, ergibt sich daraus, dass die optisch variablen Pigmente auf einer glatten Oberfläche eine andere Ausrichtung aufweisen bzw. anders orientiert sind, als auf einer rauen Oberfläche.
  • Optisch variable Pigmente sind im Sinne dieser Erfindung alle Pigmente, deren visuelles Erscheinungsbild sich bei Verkippen ändert. Beispielsweise ändert sich bei Verkippen ihre Farbe, bewegt sich scheinbar ein Balken von einer Seite des Pigments bzw. der Farbe zu einer anderen Seite, werden beim Verkippen des Pigments bzw. der Farbe unterschiedliche Zeichen dargestellt oder ergibt sich ein sogenannter Pumpeffekt in Form einer sich vergrößernden oder verkleinernden Umrisslinie eines Bildmotivs. Derartige Pigmente können beispielsweise die oben bereits erwähnten Dünnschichtelemente oder magnetisch ausrichtbare, optisch variable Interferenzpigmente sein. Es können jedoch auch metallische oder metallisch wirkende Pigmente sein, die beispielsweise eine silberne Farbe zeigen und deren Glanz oder Reflexionsvermögen sich bei Verkippen ändert.
  • Gemäß einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist vorgesehen, dass die Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten im Siebdruckverfahren auf den ersten Bereich der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier aufgedruckt wird. Grundsätzlich eignet sich jedes Druckverfahren, das zum Drucken einer Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten geeignet ist, zur Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens, bei dem Siebdruckverfahren werden jedoch die optisch variablen Pigmenten besonders schonend verdruckt, d.h. ohne bzw. geringst möglicher mechanischer Beschädigung. Besonders vorteilhaft ergibt sich durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren eine höhere Druckqualität des Siebdrucks, insbesondere wenn der Siebdruck vor dem Stichtiefdruck erfolgt.
  • Des Weiteren ergibt sich besonders vorteilhaft eine höhere Flexibilität bei der Wahl der Druckreihenfolge bzw. Einsparung eines Druckgangs bei Zweifach-Belegung der Siebdruckmaschinen.
  • Gemäß einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist vorgesehen, dass die Glättung entweder während der Herstellung des Substrats in einer Papiermaschine oder nach der Herstellung des Substrats während einer Veredelung der Oberfläche des Papiers erfolgt.
  • Gemäß einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist vorgesehen, dass die Glättung über eine Polierwalze, eine Kalanderwalze, eine Fräsung oder über einen Stempel erfolgt. Eine Polierwalze poliert hierbei die Oberfläche des Substrats, so dass die Oberfläche in diesem Bereich geglättet wird. Alternativ dazu verpresst eine Kalanderwalze ebenso wie ein Stempel die Oberfläche des Substrats und glättet sie somit, wobei eine Kalanderwalze gegenüber einem Stempel den Vorteil hat, dass sie universeller einsetzbar ist, designunabhängig verwendet werden kann und einfach mit dem Substrat in Passer gebracht werden kann. Alternativ ist eine Glättung mittels einer Fräsung der Oberfläche des Substrats möglich, wobei die Oberfläche des Substrats beispielsweise mechanisch mit einem Fräskopf oder mit einem Laser abgetragen und dabei die Dicke des Substrats verringert wird.
  • Ähnlich wie bei einer Polierwalze, kann auch eine sogenannte Patritze auf einen stabilen Zylinder gespannt werden. Die Patrize hat erhabene Stellen entsprechend dem durch die Glättung herauszuarbeitenden Muster. Über dem Zylinder mit Patrize wird die Papierbahn geführt. Das rotierende Werkzeug wird auf der der Patrize gegenüberliegenden Seite der Papierbahn präzise an die über den Patritzenzylinder laufende Papierbahn gebracht. Berührt das Werkzeug nur die Papieroberfläche, wird die Oberfläche durch das sogenannte Rollieren oder Polieren durch Reibung ohne Materialabtrag geglättet. Ist die Vorschubeinrichtung mit einem geeigneten Werkzeug bestückt und wird die Vorschubeinrichtung weiter in das Papiersubstrat hinein geführt, erfolgt zusätzlich ein Materialabtrag durch Fräsen. Durch den Einsatz geeigneter Patrizen lassen sich auf diese Weise besonders bevorzugt gemusterte Glatt- und Glanzbereiche herstellen.
  • Die geglättete und/oder gefräste Oberfläche kann dabei als Designelement ausgeführt sein. Hierbei weist insbesondere der Umriss der geglätteten und/oder gefrästen Oberfläche eine Information auf. Das Designelement weist bevorzugt eine Breite von 1,5 cm bis 5 cm auf.
  • Am fertigen Endprodukt, beispielsweise einer Banknote, insbesondere nach dem Stichtiefdruck, ist eine erfindungsgemäße Glättung üblicherweise nicht mehr sichtbar, da sie durch die nachfolgenden Druckschritte überdeckt wird. Des Weiteren sind keine Beeinträchtigungen des Farbtons der auf den erfindungsgemäß geglätteten Bereich aufgetragenen Farbe zu erwarten.
  • Gemäß einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist vorgesehen, dass die Glättung des Substrats in den Bereichen, die für einen späteren Siebdruck vorgesehen sind, vollflächig ausgeführt wird, beispielsweise mit einer Breite von 1,5 cm bis 5 cm. Es ergibt sich besonders vorteilhaft eine erhöhte Farbhaftung und eine verbesserte Planlage des Substrats.
  • Das Substrat besteht besonders bevorzugt aus Papier aus Baumwollfasern, wie es beispielsweise für Banknoten verwendet wird, oder aus anderen natürlichen Fasern oder aus Synthesefasern oder einer Mischung aus natürlichen und synthetischen Fasern, oder aus mindestens einer Kunststofffolie. Weiterhin bevorzugt besteht das Substrat aus einer Kombination aus mindestens zwei übereinander angeordneten und miteinander verbundenen unterschiedlichen Substraten, einem sogenannten Hybrid. Hierbei besteht das Substrat beispielsweise aus einer Kombination Kunststofffolie-Papier-Kunststofffolie, d.h. ein Substrat aus Papier wird auf jeder seiner beiden Seiten durch eine Kunststofffolie bedeckt, oder aus einer Kombination Papier-Kunststofffolie-Papier, d.h. ein Substrat aus einer Kunststofffolie wird auf jeder seiner beiden Seiten durch Papier bedeckt.
  • Angaben zum Gewicht des verwendeten Substrats sind beispielsweise in der Schrift DE 102 43 653 A9 angegeben, deren Ausführungen diesbezüglich vollumfänglich in diese Anmeldung aufgenommen werden. Die Schrift DE 102 43 653 A9 führt insbesondere aus, dass die Papierschicht üblicherweise ein Gewicht von 50 g/m2 bis 100 g/m2 aufweist, vorzugsweise von 80 g/m2 bis 90 g/m2. Selbstverständlich kann je nach Anwendung jedes andere geeignete Gewicht eingesetzt werden.
  • Wertdokumente, in denen ein derartiges Substrat bzw. Sicherheitspapier verwendet werden kann, sind insbesondere Banknoten, Aktien, Anleihen, Urkunden, Gutscheine, Schecks, hochwertige Eintrittskarten, aber auch andere fälschungsgefährdete Papiere, wie Pässe und sonstige Ausweisdokumente, sowie Karten, wie beispielsweise Kredit- oder Debitkarten, deren Kartenkörper mindestens eine Lage eines Sicherheitspapiers aufweist, und auch Produktsicherungselemente, wie Etiketten, Siegel, Verpackungen und dergleichen.
  • Die vereinfachte Benennung Wertdokument schließt alle oben genannten Materialien, Dokumente und Produktsicherungsmittel ein.
  • Der Begriff der Oberseite des Substrats oder Wertdokuments ist ein relativer Begriff, der sowohl die Vorderseite oder Rückseite als auch als "die eine" und "die gegenüberliegende" Seite bezeichnet, die den überwiegenden Anteil der Gesamtoberfläche des Substrats oder Wertdokuments bilden. Ausdrücklich nicht umfasst mit diesem Begriff sind die Seitenflächen eines Substrats oder Wertdokuments, die bei einer Dicke eines Substrats oder Wertdokuments, die bei Kartenkörpern nur etwa einen Millimeter oder bei Banknoten nur Bruchteile eines Millimeters beträgt, verschwindend gering sind und üblicherweise nicht mit Sicherheitselementen oder Beschichtungen versehen werden bzw. werden können.
  • Eine Information im Sinne dieser Erfindung ist eine musterförmig gestaltete und visuell wahrnehmbare Beschichtung. Diese kann beispielsweise eine graphische Abbildung, ein Bild, eine Zahl, einen Buchstaben, einen Text oder sonstige Zeichen bilden. Besonders bevorzugt besteht die Information dabei aus positiven oder/und negativen Motiven. Bei einem positiven Motiv wird hierbei ein Motivelement selbst auf das Substrat aufgebracht, wohingegen bei einem negativen Motiv der das Motivelement umgebende Bereich auf das Substrat aufgebracht wird. Ein positives Motiv ist beispielsweise ein in dunkler Farbe auf das helle Substrat aufgedruckter Buchstabe. Ein negatives Motiv ist beispielsweise eine in dunkler Farbe auf das Substrat aufgebrachte Fläche, die innerhalb der Fläche einen unbedruckten Bereich in Form eines Buchstabens aufweist.
  • Es versteht sich, dass die vorstehend genannten und die nachfolgend noch zu erläuternden Merkmale nicht nur in den angegebenen Kombinationen, sondern auch in anderen Kombinationen einsetzbar sind, ohne den Rahmen der vorliegenden Erfindung zu verlassen, soweit dies von dem Schutzumfang der Ansprüche erfasst ist.
  • Anhand der nachfolgenden Ausführungsbeispiele und der ergänzenden Figuren werden die Vorteile der Erfindung erläutert. Die Ausführungsbeispiele stellen bevorzugte Ausführungsformen dar, auf die jedoch die Erfindung in keinerlei Weise beschränkt sein soll. Des Weiteren sind die Darstellungen in den Figuren des besseren Verständnisses wegen stark schematisiert und spiegeln nicht die realen Gegebenheiten wider. Insbesondere entsprechen die in den Figuren gezeigten Proportionen nicht den in der Realität vorliegenden Verhältnissen und dienen ausschließlich zur Verbesserung der Anschaulichkeit. Des Weiteren sind die in den folgenden Ausführungsbeispielen beschriebenen Ausführungsformen der besseren Verständlichkeit wegen auf die wesentlichen Kerninformationen reduziert. Bei der praktischen Umsetzung können wesentlich komplexere Muster oder Bilder zur Anwendung kommen.
  • Im Einzelnen zeigen schematisch:
  • Fig. 1
    ein erfindungsgemäß geglättetes Substrat und hierbei in Fig. 1a in Seitenansicht und in Fig. 1b in Draufsicht,
    Fig. 2
    das erfindungsgemäß geglättete Substrat aus Fig. 1 mit einer aufgedruckten Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten und hierbei in Fig. 2a in Seitenansicht und in Fig. 2b in Draufsicht.
  • Fig. 1 zeigt in Fig. 1a und Fig. 1b schematisch ein Substrat 1 in Seitenansicht, wobei das Substrat 1 an seiner Oberseite in den Bereichen 2 nicht geglättet ist und damit eine raue Oberfläche aufweist. Im Bereich 3 ist die Oberseite des Substrats 1 geglättet und weist somit eine glatte Oberfläche auf, die in diesem Ausführungsbeispiel die Information mit dem Buchstaben "A" zeigt. Fig. 1a zeigt das Substrat 1 in Seitenansicht und Fig. 1b in Draufsicht, wobei der mit gestrichelter Linie dargestellte Rahmen 5 den Ausschnitt zeigt, der entlang der Schnittlinie A-A vergrößert in Fig. 1a dargestellt ist.
  • Fig. 2 zeigt das Ausführungsbeispiel aus Fig. 1, wobei zusätzlich eine Farbe 4 mit optisch variablen Pigmenten derart auf die Oberseite des Substrats 1 aufgedruckt ist, dass sich die Farbe 4 sowohl auf den nicht geglätteten Bereichen 2 als auch auf dem geglätteten Bereich 3 befindet und somit die Farbe 4 den Bereich 3 überlappt. Fig. 2a zeigt das Substrat 1 mit der aufgedruckten Farbe 4 in Seitenansicht und Fig. 2b in Draufsicht, wobei entsprechend Fig. 1 der in Fig. 2b mit gestrichelter Linie dargestellte Rahmen 5 den Ausschnitt zeigt, der entlang der Schnittlinie A-A vergrößert in Fig. 2a dargestellt ist.
  • In Bereich 3 zeigt die Farbe für einen Betrachter ein anderes Erscheinungsbild als in den Bereichen 2 außerhalb des Bereiches 3, was in Fig. 2b durch eine unterschiedliche Schraffierung innerhalb der Farbe 4 dargestellt wird. Beispielsweise erscheint die Farbe 4 im Überlappungsbereich mit Bereich 3 glänzend und im Überlappungsbereich mit den Bereichen 2 und damit außerhalb des Bereichs 3 matt.

Claims (7)

  1. Verfahren zur Aufbringung eines optisch variablen Sicherheitselements auf eine Oberseite eines Substrat eines Wertdokuments, wobei die Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier besteht, wobei das optisch variable Sicherheitselement aus einer Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten besteht, die auf einen ersten Bereich der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier aufgedruckt wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass vor dem Aufdrucken der Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten eine Glättung eines zweiten Bereichs der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier erfolgt, wobei sich der zweite Bereich mit der Glättung und der erste Bereich mit der Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten mindestens teilweise überlappen, so dass die Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten für einen Betrachter im Bereich der Überlappung ein anderes Erscheinungsbild aufweist als außerhalb der Überlappung.
  2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Glättung während der Herstellung des Substrats in einer Papiermaschine erfolgt.
  3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Glättung nach der Herstellung des Substrats während einer Veredelung der Oberfläche des Papiers erfolgt.
  4. Verfahren nach einem der vorigen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Farbe mit optisch variablen Pigmenten im Siebdruckverfahren auf den ersten Bereich der Oberseite des Substrats aus Papier aufgedruckt wird.
  5. Verfahren nach einem der vorigen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Glättung über eine Polierwalze, eine Kalanderwalze oder einen Stempel erfolgt.
  6. Verfahren nach einem der vorigen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Glättung des Substrats in den Bereichen, die für einen späteren Siebdruck vorgesehen sind, vollflächig ausgeführt wird, beispielsweise mit einer Breite von 1,5 cm bis 5 cm.
  7. Verfahren nach einem der vorigen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Glättung des Substrates in den Bereichen, die für den späteren Siebdruck vorgesehen sind, als Designelement ausgeführt wird, beispielsweise mit einer Breite von 1,5 cm bis 5 cm.
