Definitions

  • the invention relates to a harness comprising a connector configured to facilitate simultaneous attachment and the use of several rope progression and / or safety accessories.
  • a climber can be led to use a descender, a lanyard or a rope blocker, successively using both devices. This can happen for example if the climber has to go up a rope, then insure someone or make a call.
  • a rope access technician or acrobatic worker may also be required to use these rope progression accessories in the context of their professional activity.
  • the multiplication of devices mounted in the connector can however be inconvenient for the user, for example if the rope blocker hinders the proper functioning of the descender, or vice versa.
  • the movements of the rope can be difficult because they are hampered by the accessories of progression on rope which are not used, and / or by carabiners or quick links which are used to hang these progression accessories.
  • An example of a harness with such a connector is known from FR2945221 .
  • Another example of a harness having a known composite connector is that of US 2014/0325733 A1 .
  • An object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks, and to provide a harness comprising a connector which allows easier use of rope progression accessories such as ascenders or descenders.
  • the second axis BB coincides with the longitudinal axis AA.
  • the rod can be placed at a distance from the closed contour of the first part of the connector, so as to allow the strap to pass between the rod and the connection ring.
  • the closed contour of the first part can define a first plane, and the rod can be placed at a distance from this first plane.
  • the C shape of the second part can also define a second plane, and the rod can be placed at a distance from this second plane.
  • the first part may comprise a first attachment means and a second attachment means, configured to allow the passage of the rod, the first and second attachment means being separated by a first distance L1.
  • the second C-shaped part may include a third attachment means and a fourth attachment means configured to allow the passage of the rod, the third and fourth attachment means being separated by a second lower distance L2 at the first distance L1, so that the third and fourth attachment means are located between the first and second attachment means.
  • the first part and the second part are mounted without play along the axis AA.
  • the rod may comprise at least a first recess configured to cooperate with a first blocking rod passing through a first hole positioned in the first part or the second C-shaped part, so as to prevent translational movements according to the axis AA of the first part and of the second part relative to the rod.
  • the first part can be configured to be folded over the second part.
  • the end of the first part opposite the axis AA can be distant from an arc length greater than 0.5 cm from the second part when the first and second parts are folded over one another.
  • the end of the second part opposite the axis AA may be distant from an arc length greater than 0.5 cm from the first part when the first and second parts are folded one on the other. 'other.
  • the invention finally relates to a method of using a connector on a harness comprising the aforementioned characteristics, in which the first part is positioned on the side of the pair of leg loops, and in which the second part is positioned on the side of the pair of suspenders.
  • a harness 1 comprises a belt 2 and a pair of leg loops 3 connected to a strap 4.
  • the harness may optionally include shoulder straps 5. However, it may also have no shoulder straps. It can be associated with removable suspenders or it can be associated with irremovable suspenders.
  • the straps 5 are fixed directly to the belt 2 and in other embodiments, the straps 5 are indirectly attached to the belt 2, that is to say that the mechanical connection between the straps 5 and the belt 2 is produced by means of an intermediate element.
  • the harness has a ventral suspension point which makes it possible to make the mechanical connection between a mooring point and the belt of the harness when the user is suspended in the harness.
  • the harness can be devoid of belt opening / closing means 2. If the harness comprises belt opening / closing means 2, for example with buckles metal or snap-in systems, the ventral suspension point is separate from the belt opening / closing means 2.
  • the harness 1 comprises a connector 6 attached to the belt 2, preferably on the ventral part of the belt 2.
  • the connector 6 defines a first connection ring and a second connection ring separate from the first connection ring.
  • the first and second connection rings each define a closed contour.
  • the two connection rings can move relative to each other, preferably in rotation and even more preferably only in rotation.
  • the connector 6 comprises a rod 7 with a longitudinal axis AA which provides the mechanical connection with the belt 2, preferably by means of the strap 4.
  • the connector 6 comprises a first part 8 defining a closed contour also called connection ring 8a.
  • the first part 8 is mounted movable in rotation relative to the belt 2 around the axis AA of the rod 7.
  • the connector 6 also includes a second part 9 in the form of C and mounted movable in rotation around a second axis BB parallel to the axis AA.
  • the second part 9 is mounted movable in rotation relative to the first part 8 around the second axis BB.
  • form of C is meant that the second part 9 does not define a closed contour, and that it is possible to place a progression accessory on a rope on the second part without having to use a carabiner or a quick link.
  • the second part may very well have a shape of U, M, V, W, or any shape that is not a closed outline.
  • a closed contour is formed by means of the second part 9 and its fixing rod, by example the rod 7 in the figures.
  • the parts of the connector 6 can advantageously be detached by a user in order to be able to introduce at least one progression accessory on a rope on the second C-shaped part 9.
  • the connector 6 is advantageously attached to the ventral part of the belt 2 by connection with a strap.
  • the strap defines a loop and the rod 7 is introduced into this loop to mechanically connect the belt 2 to the connector 6.
  • the strap for example the strap 4 advantageously passes between the rod 7 and the closed contour of the first part 8, and surrounds the rod 7.
  • the connector 6 is mounted on the harness 1 when the different parts of the connector 6 are assembled with each other.
  • the connector 6 is arranged on the harness 1 so that the first part 8 is configured to be placed against the belt 2 or the user in the direction of the pair of leg loops 3, while the second part 9 is configured to be placed against the belt 2 or the user, in the direction of the pair of shoulder straps 5.
  • the positions of the first and second parts 8 and 9 can however be reversed without this modifying the general functioning of the harness 1.
  • the axis BB of rotation of the second part 9 can be different from the axis AA of rotation of the first part 8.
  • the connector 6 can comprise an additional rod (not shown ) of axis BB, and which can be separated from the first and second parts 8 and 9 in order to place a progression accessory on a rope on the second part 9.
  • This embodiment is however less advantageous because the space requirement of the connector 6 is more important that only one axis 7 which simultaneously connects the first part 8 with the belt 2 and the second part 9.
  • the rod 7 is mounted in the connector 6 outside the connection ring 8a.
  • the rod 7 defines a hole with the outer edge of the connection ring 8a.
  • the strap 4 can therefore pass through the hole without passing through the connection ring 8a.
  • the closed contour of the connection ring protects the strap from possible shocks caused by carabiners or other connection elements placed in the connection ring. This precaution increases the lifespan of the strap.
  • the axis BB parallel to the axis AA can correspond to one of the sides of the connection ring 8a.
  • the second part 9 can be rotatably mounted on the first part 8.
  • the rod 7 is then separated from the axis BB by a part of the strap 4.
  • This embodiment is less advantageous than a common axis because the second part 9 can press against the strap and thus wear it prematurely and / or cause significant lateral play along the axis AA.
  • the longitudinal axis BB is coincident with the longitudinal axis AA, which means that the second part 9 is mounted movable in rotation relative to the belt 2 around the rod 7.
  • first and second parts 8 and 9 which have specific three-dimensional shapes.
  • the first part 8 can be a flat part, that is to say that the extreme peripheral zone of the part is contained in a plane and / or the internal peripheral zone of the connection ring 8a is contained in a plane.
  • the connectors of the prior art are not advantageous in such an embodiment.
  • the latter are curved outwards at their distal part which can be unpleasant for the user because the curved part but can come into contact with the abdomen.
  • connection ring 8a It is advantageous to keep a connection ring 8a plane and to offset the axis AA from this plane.
  • the axis AA can advantageously be offset against the belt 2 when the connection ring 8a is oriented towards the side of the leg loops 3.
  • connection ring 8a is contained in a first planar area of the first part 8, so as to define a first plane P1.
  • the rod 7 can advantageously be off-center with respect to this first plane P1 (cf. fig. 3 ).
  • the first and second parts 8 and 9 are movable in rotation around the rod 7. It is particularly advantageous to provide that the zones for fixing the first part 8 with the rod 7 are separated by the two zones for fixing the second part. 9 with the rod 7 as shown in the different figures.
  • attachment zones of the second part 9 with the rod 7 are separated by the attachment zones of the first part 8 with the rod 7.
  • An alternation between the attachment zones of the first and second parts 8 and 9 is preferably to be avoided because the forces in the first and second parts 8 and 9 are less well distributed when the two parts are folded over one another.
  • the first part 8 comprises a first bent zone 8b connecting the connection ring 8a with the rod 7.
  • the first part 8 can have an L shape, and be connected to the rod 7 at one of the ends of the L.
  • the connection ring 8a is therefore a flat zone and corresponds to a branch of the L, while the other branch of the L is included in the first zone angled 8b.
  • the first plane P1 can correspond to any plane passing inside the first part 8 and parallel to the edges of the connection ring 8a.
  • connection ring 8a when a vertical force is applied in the connection ring 8a, the distal part of the first part 8 is slightly offset from the abdomen of the user which avoids discomfort.
  • the axis AA is advantageously offset against the belt 2, when the C-shaped part is oriented towards the side of the leg loops 3.
  • the C-shaped distal part of the second part 9 is contained in a second flat area 9a of the part, so as to define a second plane P2.
  • the rod 7 can advantageously be off-centered relative to this second plane P2.
  • the second part 9 may include a second bent zone 9b connecting the closed contour to the rod 7.
  • the second piece 9 can have an L shape, and be connected to the rod 7 at one of the ends of the L.
  • the second flat area 9a therefore corresponds to a branch of the L, while the other branch of the L is included in the second bent zone 9b.
  • the second plane P2 can correspond to any plane passing inside the second part 9 and parallel to the edges of the second plane zone 9a.
  • one of the parts may be wider than the other along the axis AA, so as to surround the smallest part.
  • the first part 8 can surround the second part 9 at the level of the axis AA.
  • the first part 8 may include first and second attachment means 8c and 8d placed in the fixing zones of the first part, and configured to allow the passage of the rod 7.
  • the first and second attachment means 8c and 8d are advantageously separated by a first distance L1 along the axis AA.
  • the second part 9 may also include third and fourth attachment means 9c and 9d placed in the attachment zones of the second part, and configured to allow the passage of the rod 7.
  • the third and fourth attachment means 9c and 9d are advantageously separated by a second distance L2 along the axis AA which is less than the distance L1.
  • the third and fourth attachment means 9c and 9d are advantageously located between the first and second attachment means 8c and 8d. This means that the first part 8 surrounds the second part 9.
  • the attachment means may for example be annular elements or clips, and advantageously of section slightly greater than the diameter of the rod 7 so as to facilitate rotation of the first and second parts 8 and 9 on the rod 7.
  • slightly greater we mean that the diameter of annular elements or clips is approximately 0.1 mm larger than the diameter of the rod 7.
  • first and second parts 8 and 9 are mounted without functional play along the axis AA, so that the parts cannot translate relative to one another.
  • the first and second parts 8 and 9 can therefore only be movable in rotation relative to one another.
  • the latter may include first and second recesses 7a and 7b which cooperate with locking rods 10a and 10b which are inserted in the connector 6 (cf. fig. 4 ).
  • the first and second locking rods 10a and 10b are advantageously of tubular or cylindrical shape and can for example be screws, rivets, or nails.
  • the width of the first and second recesses 7a and 7b along the axis AA is slightly greater than the diameter of the first and second locking rods 10a and 10b, so that the fixing means can be inserted in the recesses 7a and 7b .
  • first and second locking rods 10a and 10b are inserted into first and second holes 8e and 8f.
  • first and second holes could be located on the second part 9.
  • a combination of these embodiments is also possible with a greater number of locking rods, for example 2, 3 or 4.
  • first and second parts 8 and 9 are mounted without functional play along the axis AA, it is also possible to produce a rod 7 comprising a single recess 7a, configured to cooperate with a single locking rod 10a placed in a single hole positioned indifferently on the first part 8 or on the second part 9.
  • the position of the first and second holes 8e and 8f can be chosen so that the axes of the first and second locking rods 10a and 10b are intersecting or not with the axis AA. If the axes of the first and second locking rods 10a and 10b intersect with the axis AA, their ends are placed in the recesses but not necessarily in abutment. On the other hand, if the axes of the first and second locking rods 10a and 10b are not intersecting with the axis AA, then the latter tangent the rod 7 at the level of the recesses 7a and 7b, so as to allow the rotation of the parts 8 and 9 along the AA axis, but not their translation.
  • the first and second holes 8e and 8f open out onto the attachment means 8c and 8d, and come to tangent the rod 7 at the level of the first and second recesses 7a and 7b. This has the effect of preventing the translational movements of the first and second parts 8 and 9 when they are mounted without functional play relative to each other.
  • the establishment of the first and second parts 8 and 9 on the rod 7 can be carried out in two different ways.
  • the most advantageous consists in superimposing the first and second flat zones 8a and 9a when the first and second parts 8 and 9 are folded over one another. Note however that the angled shape of the first and second parts 8 and 9 prevents them from being folded down completely over one another.
  • the edge of the connection ring 8a disposed near the axis 7 abuts against the edge of the C-shaped area 9a.
  • the value of the offset between the planes P1 and P2 and the axis AA as well as the thicknesses of the first and second parts, are chosen so that that the angle formed between the two parts is sufficient to allow mobility to the rope progression accessories which would be installed on one or other of the parts 8 and 9.
  • the progression on the rope is facilitated because the movements of the latter are not hindered by the connection elements used by the user.
  • the angle formed between the first and second parts 8 and 9 when they are folded over one another must be small enough not to disturb the user. Indeed, if the first and second parts 8 and 9 are too far from each other, the second part 9 could exert pressure on the user and generate discomfort.
  • the first and second parts 8 and 9 can advantageously be separated by an arc length of between 0.5 and 3 cm, the length of arc being measured with respect to the point farthest from the axis AA.
  • the arc length is measured between the first part and the end of the second part which is opposite to the axis AA.
  • the arc length is measured between the second part and the end of the first part which is opposite to the axis AA.
  • the first part 8, the second part 9 and the strap 4 are then connected by means of the rod 7, so that the strap 4 is positioned between the rod 7 and the connection ring 8a. This protects the strap 4 from possible friction due to the progression accessories.
  • the connector 6 is then positioned on the ventral part of the belt 2, so as to allow its use in the context of progression on a rope.
  • the rod 7 is firstly introduced into the first attachment means 8c of the first part 8, then into the third attachment means 9c of the second part 9.
  • the rod 7 is introduced into the loop.
  • the rod 7 finally passes through the fourth attachment means 9d of the second part 9 and the second attachment means 8d of the first part 8.
  • the locking rods 10a and 10b are used in order to avoid any translation of the first and second parts 8 and 9 along the rod 7.
  • first part 8 After mounting, it is for example possible to hang a descender on the first part 8 by means of a carabiner or a quick link. This makes it easy to alternate between using the rope blocker placed on the second part 9 and using the descender placed on the first part 8. If a blocker and a descender are positioned in this way on the connector 6, then it is preferable that the first part 8 is positioned in the direction of the pair of leg loops 3, and that the second part 9 is positioned in the direction of the pair of suspenders 5. This configuration is optimal in terms of comfort for the user, who is not hampered by connector 6 during its progression on the rope.
  • the first part 8 alone defines a closed connection ring 8a.
  • This embodiment is illustrated in figure 1 .
  • This configuration makes it possible to separate the strap connecting the connector 6 to the pair of leg loops 3 from all the elements which are mounted inside the connection ring 8a.
  • the first part 8 can be a C-shaped element, like the second part 9.
  • the connection ring is then defined by the assembly of the C-shaped element and the rod 7 , so as to form a closed contour.
  • the first part 8 can be a one-piece element or, on the contrary, it can be produced by several separate parts.
