Description

APPAREIL ELECTRONIQUE AUTONOME ET DISPOSITIF DE FIXATION DE CELUI-CI SUR UNE ELECTRODE LOCALISEE AU NIVEAU DE LA TETE POUR UNE UTILISATION EN POSITION COUCHEE DU PATIENT AUTONOMOUS ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND DEVICE FOR FASTENING THE SAME ON A HEAD LOCATED ELECTRODE FOR THE LAYERED POSITION OF THE PATIENT
Objet de l'invention Object of the invention
The present invention relates to the field of devices either providing electrical impulses at the body, in particular the skull, for neurostimulation purposes, or receiving electrical pulses by biofeedback.
Etat de la technique State of the art
[0002] Neurostimulation is a well-known technique that consists of using electrical pulses to generate action potentials on nerves.
[0003] It has recently been demonstrated that stimulation of the upper branch of the trigeminal nerve has a sedative effect in humans (Pratet M., Balestra C, Sava SL, Schoenen JE, BMC Neurology 2011, 11: 135). This effect may be useful for people with insomnia. The corresponding therapeutic method is the subject of US patent application 13 / 101,495 (published under number US 2011/0282129).
A problem that arises in the application of this method is that the neurostimulation apparatus according to the state of the art still contain cables for connecting the electronic device to the contact electrode with the skin. These cables are clearly a brake to use in any application related to sleep. They can indeed easily wrap on the patient and pick up the electrode. They thus force the patient to maintain a stable position during sleep, which is not the case if his sleep is somewhat agitated.
[0005] Recently STX-Med (Herstal, Belgium) has developed an apparatus for stimulating the trigeminal nerve on the frontal part of the skull (Apparatus for electro-inhibition of facial muscles, WO 2006/063417; tension headaches, US 2009/0210028). This autonomous device does not use cables, but side branches like glasses to locate the electrode at the forehead. However, these branches are, in the same way as the cables, an inconvenience for patients in supine position.
[0006] US 4,112,941 discloses the assembly of an improved biomedical electrode and a connector. The latter comprises a magnet facilitating coupling with a protruding part of the electrode. The electrical contact between the connector and the electrode is along the projecting portion to form a gap between the connector and the electrode plate. This space serves to provide some game to the assembly.

The apparatus according to the invention is provided with at least two powerful permanent magnets, preferably two magnets, which allow:

Ceci permet de repositionner l'appareil sans avoir besoin de lumière (par exemple pendant la nuit) , ni de miroir ;  - to easily position the device: the magnets are attracted by the magnetizable parts on the electrode and thus position themselves spontaneously in the appropriate places. This allows to reposition the device without the need for light (for example during the night), or mirror;

- d'éviter d'endommager l'électrode tant lors du positionnement que du retrait de l'appareil : la connexion par aimantation évite les efforts mécaniques sur des parties potentiellement fragiles d'une électrode ;  - To avoid damaging the electrode both during positioning and removal of the device: the magnetization connection avoids the mechanical forces on potentially fragile parts of an electrode;
- Not to have a game in the connectors: once positioned, the magnets remain motionless, unlike a mechanical type connection that can move during a head movement for example or that can generate games by repeated use .
The apparatus is designed in materials chosen to be made very light, which avoids exercising too much stress on the electrode and prevents it from peeling off.
The connector magnet could also allow a facilitated connection in the use of an occipital stimulation headband.
