Abstract

An emergency start power plant comprising a combusting engine (6) having a start motor, where the start motor is supplied with current from an energy source, said energy source consist of a quick charging and quick discharging electrical energy unit (1) that receives current from a charging unit (2) driven by muscular strength (effort). This muscular strength is provided by turning a cranking wheel (7). In a preferred embodiment the quick charging and discharging energy unit consist of a large capacitance capacitor. In this way it is possible to start up an emergency generator power plant very quickly and totally independent of other energy sources, such as batteries.

Description

An emergency start power plant.
This invention relates to an emergency start power plant comprising a combustion engine with a start motor, said start motor is supplied with current from an energy source.
That kind of energy power plant shall be established such that they independent of a combustion engines start motor is able to operate, and be able to start a combustion engine within a very short time. As an example a combustion engine shall be able to be started 3 times within half an hour. In general traditional batteries are used as the primary start means for combustion engines., said batteries are operated by a dynamo or a charging generator that in turn is driven by the combustion engine.
I connection with combustion engines for emergency start power plants these are normally in standby mode, since they should first be activated, f. inst. during a current interruption in the public electrical power supply.
In such a case having a current interruption, the emergency power plant is totally dependent of the current that is provided from another source than the public power supply.
Often such emergency start power plant gets current from a battery that in case it's not completely functional, is unable to deliver current to the start motor in the emergency start power plant.
In other words an emergency start power plant shall be self-supplying, such that it every time can be started up totally independent of current delivered by the public net or by a start battery.
JP 2252969 discloses a system in which muscle strength is used for charging a battery, being able to deliver current to a combustion engine.
The JP publication does not deal with start of an emergency start power plant. DE 10 2002 006 604 Al discloses a plant of the same time as that in the above mentioned JP publication, in which a start of an combustion engine is provided by muscular strength.
US 5.146.095 and US 2004/0119338 Al discloses plants to start a combustion engine in a car, in which supplementary to the battery in the car, a large capacitance capacitor is provided, that is able to within a short time to provide sufficient start of the combustion engine. None of the above cited publications described a plant, in which an emergency start power plant within a short time can be started immediately and totally independent of the normal power supply.
For that reason it is a purpose with the invention to show an emergency start power plant of the type defined in the introductory part of claim 1 that immediately is able to start a combusting engine in an emergency start power plant, if its normal start energy from f. inst. a battery fail.
The purpose of the invention is fulfilled with, as mentioned in the characterizing portion of claim 1, that the energy source is a quick charging and discharging electrical energy unit to which current is led from a charging unit, said charging unit is driving by use of muscular strength.
In this way a quick functioning start system is provided that function totally independent of other energy sources.
It is expedient as mentioned in claim 2, that the muscular strength is provided by a cranking wheel. For dimensioning the function of the emergency power plant during different working conditions, it is advantageous, as stated in claim 3, that a gear is coupled between the charging unit and the cranking wheel, and as stated in claim 4, that a charging regulator having current outlet is coupled between the charging unit and the energy unit.
As mentioned in claim 5, that the quick charging and quick discharging energy unit is a large capacitance capacitor, a reliable start-up of the emergency start power plant is achieved.
A further expedient embodiment of the invention is defined in claim 6.
The invention will now be explained more fully in connection with the single fig. 1 of the drawing. On this figure, showing an emergency start power plant, 2 designates a charging generator, that is driven by muscular strength, said muscular strength is provided by a cranking wheel 7, eventually supplied by a gear 4,5 through axles, one of which is denoted 3.
The charging generator 2 is connected to a charging unit 1, preferable formed as a large capacitance capacitor that operates in a way, so it can be quick charged and discharged, and in this way provide current to a start motor for a combustion engine being indicated by the broken line 11.
Between the charging unit 1 and the charging generator 2 a charging regulator 9 can be coupled, said charging regulator can be formed with current outlet 8A for supplying of the energy to the charging unit 1. Further the regulator 9 has connection to a starting motor in a combustion engine 6, as shown with dashed lines 11. A current outlet 10 to another, not shown current consuming unit, being an electrical control unit (ECU) for a motor or a battery id also possible.
The invention can for inst. advantageous be used in connection with starting systems, based on 6V, 12V , 24V 48V, or other suitable voltages.
The cranking wheel can, through the gear 4, 5 provide a rotation, that is sufficient to run the charging generator with a velocity, that secures a quick charging of the large capacitance capacitor, that afterwards can deliver necessary current to the start motor quickly.
As an example it is noted that the large capacitance capacitor operated at 12v or 24 V can have a capacitance in the range form 40 F to 1.000 F, and operating with engines 40 KW to 600KW.
The charging generator can typical be a DC generator or an AC generator having a nominal voltage of 12V or 24V and a capacity of producing 100 W to 200 W, being achieved at about 130 - 200 rpm.
Even that the invention is explained in connection with emergency start power plant, it is also possible to use the principles in connection with main power plants.

Claims

C L A I M S
1. An emergency start power plant comprising a combustion engine (6) with a start motor, said start motor is supplied with current from an energy source, characterized in that the energy source is a quick charging and discharging electrical energy unit (1) to which current is led from a charging unit (2), said charging unit is driving by use of muscular strength.
2. An emergency start power plant according to claim 1, characterized in that the muscular strength is provided by a cranking wheel.
3. An emergency start power plant according to claim 2, characterized in that a gear (4,5) is coupled between the charging unit (2) and the cranking wheel (7).
4. A combustion engine according to claim 1 - 3, characterized in that a charging regulator (9) having current outlet (10) is coupled between the charging unit (2) and the energy unit (1).
5. An emergency start power plant according to claim 1 - 4, characterized in that the quick charging and quick discharging energy unit is a large capacitance capacitor.
6. An emergency start power plant according to claim 1 - 5, characterized in that the gear is formed with toothed wheel, said tooth engage each other.
