Description

    A COOKING DEVICE
  • The present invention relates to a cooking device comprising a door that is opened by rotating sideways.
  • In some cooking devices the door is mounted to the side wall of the body and is opened/closed by rotating around the axis whereto it is attached. The door is desired to be kept closed during the cooking process for safety reasons and for decreasing thermal losses. The lock is mounted on the inner surface of the free side wall of the door, at a position close to the free side. The door has an inner panel that faces the oven cavity and an outer panel that faces the outside environment. The inner panel and the outer panel are fixed to two sides of a frame remaining therebetween to be parallel to each other. The inner panel and the outer panel are generally produced from glass. Some difficulties are encountered in mounting the lock on the inner panel or the outer panel. Due to its material, it is quite difficult to configure a form on the inner panel or the outer panel for mounting any kind of an element thereon.
  • Therefore, in the state of the art, mostly adhesion method is preferred in mounting the lock on the inner panel or the outer panel. But in this situation, problems like the lock dislodging from its connection place in the course of time or breaking of the inner panel or the outer panel due to forces exerted on the door during opening/closing of the door are encountered.
  • In the state of the art Korean Patent Document No. KR100265637, a microwave cooking device is described that comprises a door which is opened by rotating sideways.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooking device comprising a door whereon the lock can be mounted firmly and endurably.
  • The cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a door that is opened by rotating around the axis whereto it is connected, an inner panel that forms the inner surface of the door, an outer panel larger than the inner panel and a frame disposed between the inner panel and the outer panel. The outer panel has a skirt that extends outwards from the frame. The door is locked with a lock that is mounted on the door by being placed into a housing. The cooking device furthermore comprises a connection member that is connected to the surface of the skirt facing the oven cavity when the door is closed. The housing that supports the lock is mounted on the door such that one side is seated on the skirt and the other side on the frame. Thus, the forces generated during opening/closing of the door are provided to act both on the outer panel and on the frame. Consequently, the inner panel or the outer panel is prevented from being damaged with the straining of the door.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member is fixed by adhering on the skirt. The inner panel and the outer panel are generally produced from glass. The outer panel is prevented from being damaged by means of the connection member being fastened on the skirt by adhesion.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the connection member is produced from sheet metal. Thus, the connection member is provided to be stronger and the resistance to forces acting thereon is increased.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the connection member is produced by being cut out from a flat plate.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, more than one protrusion is located on the lower surface of the connection member. The protrusions contact the skirt. The connection member is secured on the skirt such that the adhesive remains between the protrusions. Thus, the adhesive is prevented from overflowing from the sides of the connection member towards over the skirt.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the extensions disposed on the housing are inserted into the openings remaining between the protrusions and the outer panel. Thus, the connection member is provided to be fastened on the skirt.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, fixing holes are arranged on the surface of the connection member seated to the frame. The connection member is secured to the frame by screwing.
  • By means of the present invention, the lock is fastened on the outer panel by means of a connection member and some amount of the force acting on the door is provided to act on the connection member during opening/closing of the door. Consequently, the door is prevented from being strained and the inner panel and the outer panel from being damaged during opening/closing of the door
  • A cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 – is the perspective view of a cooking device.
  • Figure 2 – is the view of detail A in Figure 1.
