Abstract

The present invention relates to a household appliance (1) comprising a body (2), a panel (3) disposed on the body (2), an inner panel (4) shaped as a box with one face open, produced from plastic and which forms the surface of the panel (3) facing the inside of the body (2), an outer panel (5) produced from metal, fitted over the inner panel (4) and which forms the surface of the panel (3) facing the outer environment, a cut-out (6) arranged on the outer panel (5), a decorative element (7) placed between the inner panel (4) and the outer panel (5) so as to cover the cut-out (6), a first opening (8) arranged on the inner panel (4), a second opening (9) arranged on the decorative element (7) so as to be aligned with the first opening (8), a knob (10) situated on the panel (3) by being passed through the first opening (8) and the second opening (9), a circuit board (11) that detects the signal formed upon the actuation of the knob (10) and a board holder (12) fastened to the inner panel (4) and which carries the circuit board (11).

Description

    A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE
  • The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a panel whereon a decorative element is disposed.
  • In household appliances, a panel is disposed on the body, whereon elements such as display and knob that provide the user to select the program parameters are disposed. The panel is composed of an inner panel generally produced from plastic and an outer panel produced from metal and which is fitted over the inner panel. In some of the household appliances, decorative elements are placed on the panel in order to make the external appearance of the household appliance more esthetic. An opening is formed both on the decorative element and on the inner panel and the knob is placed on the panel by being passed through the said two openings that overlap with each other. The signal formed upon the actuation of the knob by the user is transmitted to the circuit board carried by means of a board holder fastened to the inner panel. However, the possible displacement during the mounting of the inner panel, the decorative element or the board holder, or the knob not being centered properly cause some problems during the operation of the knob. When the knob is not positioned properly, problems such as the knob being jammed, not being pressed or being pressed half are encountered.
  • In the state of the art Japanese Patent Application No. JP2011146343, a knob is described which is disposed on a panel whereon a decorative plate is placed.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance comprising a knob which is provided to be properly positioned on a panel whereon a decorative element is disposed.
  • The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises a panel disposed on the body, an inner panel forming the surface of the panel facing the inside of the body, an outer panel forming the surface of the panel facing the outer environment, a cut-out arranged on the outer panel and a decorative element placed between the inner panel and the outer panel so as to cover the cut-out. The signal generated upon the actuation of the knob is transmitted to the circuit board carried by a board holder fastened on the inner panel. The household appliance furthermore comprises more than one housing on the knob, more than one support corresponding to each knob on the board holder and more than one guide disposed on each support, each entering into one housing when the knob is placed on the panel. Thus, the knob is provided to operate better by providing the knob and the board holder to be properly centered with respect to each other.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the width of the guide is smaller than the width of the housing. When the guides enter into the housings, a gap remains between the edges of the guide and the walls of the housing. These gaps, which could be evaluated as mounting gaps, facilitate the mounting of the knob.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the support is configured as a hollow cylinder.
  • In a version of this embodiment, the guides are located at the upper edge of the support. A gap remains between each two guides disposed on the same support. The guides surround the upper edge of the support.
  • In another version of this embodiment, four housings are provided on the knob. When the knob is placed on the panel, each of the four guides disposed on the support extend into each housing.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, there are stoppers which extend from the inner panel into the body and prevent the movement of the knob by bearing against the edges of the knob when excessive force is applied on the knob.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance is a dishwasher.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance is a washing machine.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance is a laundry dryer.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance is a cooking device.
  • By means of the present invention, the knob is provided to be properly centered during its mounting on the panel and thus problems that may arise during the operation of the knob are eliminated.
  • The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

  • The household appliance (1) comprises a body (2), a panel (3) disposed on the body (2), an inner panel (4) shaped as a box with one face open, produced from plastic and which forms the surface of the panel (3) facing the inside of the body (2), an outer panel (5) produced from metal, fitted over the inner panel (4) and which forms the surface of the panel (3) facing the outer environment, a cut-out (6) arranged on the outer panel (5), a decorative element (7) placed between the inner panel (4) and the outer panel (5) so as to cover the cut-out (6), a first opening (8) arranged on the inner panel (4), a second opening (9) arranged on the decorative element (7) so as to be aligned with the first opening (8), a knob (10) situated on the panel (3) by being passed through the first opening (8) and the second opening (9), a circuit board (11) that detects the signal generated upon the actuation of the knob (10) and a board holder (12) fastened to the inner panel (4) and which carries the circuit board (11).
  • During the mounting of the panel (3), the decorative element (7) is placed on the cut-out (6) so as to remain between the inner panel (4) and the outer panel (5). The first opening (8) arranged on the inner panel (4) and the second opening (9) arranged on the decorative element (7) are almost concentric. The knob (10) is placed on the panel (3) by being passed through the second opening (9) and the first opening (8) respectively. The width of the first opening (8) is larger than the width of the second opening (9). When the knob (10) is placed on the panel (3), the edges of the knob (10) bear against the decorative element (7). The width of the second opening (9) is almost equal to the width of the knob (10). Since the width of the first opening (8) is larger than the width of the second opening (9), a gap remains between the edges of the knob (10) and the inner panel (4) walls facing the first opening (8) when the knob (10) is placed on the panel (3). By means of the knob (10) being placed on the panel (3) by being centered with respect to the decorative element (7), a more esthetic exterior appearance is obtained.
  • The household appliance (1) furthermore comprises
    • more than one housing (13) disposed on the knob (10) such that the orifice thereof faces the inside of the body (2),
    • more than one support (14) disposed on the board holder (12) such that one support (14) corresponds to each knob (10) and
    • more than one guide (15) disposed on the support (14), each extending into one housing (13) and thus provides the board holder (12) and the knob (10) to be aligned which respect to each other when the knob (10) is placed on the panel (3).
  • When the knob (10) is placed on the panel (3), each guide (15) enters into one housing (13). Thus, the knob (10) and the board holder (12) are provided to be properly positioned with respect to each other. Thus, the knob (10) is provided to operate without any problem. When the knob (10) is actuated by the user pressing on the knob (10), the signal is provided to be transmitted to the circuit board (11) without any problem. The problems such as the knob (10) being jammed, not being pressed or being pressed half due to possible displacement during the mounting of the knob (10) and/or the board holder (12) are prevented.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the width of the guide (15) is smaller than the width of the housing (13). Thus, the mounting of the knob (10) is facilitated by providing the guides (15) to easily enter the housings (13).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the support (14) is configured as a hollow cylinder.
  • In a version of this embodiment, the household appliance (1) comprises more than one guide (15) that surrounds the upper edge of the support (14) such that a gap remains therebetween.
  • In another version of this embodiment, the household appliance (1) comprises four housings (13) disposed on the knob (10) and four guides (15) disposed on the support (14), each entering into one housing (13). The housings (13) disposed on the knob (10) have a rectangular cross-section matching the configuration of the knob (10). The housings (13) are placed on the knob (10), two being at the top and two at the bottom. The support (14) has a circular cross-sectional area and each guide (15) is placed on the support (14) such that there is an angle of 90 degrees therebetween. When the knob (10) is placed on the panel (3) and thus the board holder (12) is fastened on the inner panel (4), each guide (15) enters into one housing (13).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) comprises at least one stopper (16) extending from the inner panel (4) into the body (2) and which provides the prevention of the movement of the knob (10) by bearing against the edges of the knob (10) when excessive force is applied on the knob (10).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a dishwasher.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a washing machine.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a laundry dryer.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a cooking device.
  • In the household appliance (1) of the present invention, by providing the proper placement of the knob (10) on the panel (3), the knob (10) is provided to operate without any problem.
  • It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These different embodiments should also be considered within the scope of the claims of the present invention.

  1. A household appliance (1) comprising a body (2), a panel (3) disposed on the body (2), an inner panel (4) shaped as a box with one face open, produced from plastic and which forms the surface of the panel (3) facing the inside of the body (2), an outer panel (5) produced from metal, fitted over the inner panel (4) and which forms the surface of the panel (3) facing the outer environment, a cut-out (6) arranged on the outer panel (5), a decorative element (7) placed between the inner panel (4) and the outer panel (5) so as to cover the cut-out (6), a first opening (8) arranged on the inner panel (4), a second opening (9) arranged on the decorative element (7) so as to be aligned with the first opening (8), a knob (10) placed on the panel (3) by being passed through the first opening (8) and the second opening (9), a circuit board (11) that detects the signal formed upon the actuation of the knob (10) and a board holder (12) fastened to the inner panel (4) and which carries the circuit board (11), characterized by
    - more than one housing (13) arranged on the knob (10) such that the orifice thereof faces the inside of the body (2),
    - more than one support (14) disposed on the board holder (12) such that one support (14) corresponds to each knob (10) and
    - more than one guide (15) disposed on the support (14), each extending into one housing (13) and thus provides the board holder (12) and the knob (10) to be aligned which respect to each other when the knob (10) is placed on the panel (3).
  2. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the guide (15), the width of which is smaller than the width of the housing (13).
  3. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the support (14) that is configured as a hollow cylinder.
  4. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 3, characterized by more than one guide (15) that surrounds the upper edge of the support (14) such that a gap remains therebetween.
  5. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 3 or 4, characterized by four housings (13) arranged on the knob (10) and four guides (15) disposed on the support (14), each entering into one housing (13).
  6. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by at least one stopper (16) extending from the inner panel (4) into the body (2) and which provides the prevention of the movement of the knob (10) by bearing against the edges of the knob (10) when excessive force is applied on the knob (10).
  7. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the above claims which is a dishwasher.
  8. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 6, which is a washing machine.
  9. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 6, which is a laundry dryer.
  10. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 6, which is a cooking device.
