Description

  • The present invention relates to a lighting system which is particularly suitable for illuminating tiled or clad wall projections.
  • Lighting systems of the type mentioned are known in the prior art in different configurations. For example, a neon tube or LED bar can be positioned below the wall projection to illuminate it.
  • Other lighting systems are in the publications DE 25 17 608 A1 . DE 20 2010 012 629 U1 and WO 2011/019753 A1 described.
  • Starting from this prior art, it is an object of the present invention to provide an alternative illumination system which is optimally designed for said intended use.
  • To solve this object, the present invention provides a lighting system according to claim 1.
  • An advantage of this lighting system according to the invention is that the longer first side leg can be used as a mounting leg. With this, the profile, for example, in such a way at the back of a wall projection protruding plates or Tiles are attached, that the first side legs still partially protrudes under these.   • According to the invention, the length of the side sections is chosen such that the outer surface of the base section terminates substantially flush with the free end of the second side leg of the profile in the intended condition. Accordingly, light emitted by the illumination system can exit the profile in only one direction.
  • The length of the two side sections is advantageously selected such that the outer surface of the base section terminates substantially flush with the free end of the first side leg of the profile in the intended state.
  • According to one embodiment of the present invention, the profile is an extruded profile with constant cross-section over the entire length. Extruded profiles have the advantage that they are simple and inexpensive to produce.
  • Preferably, the first side leg is at least 1.5 times as long, in particular at least twice as long as the second side legs. As a result, inter alia, the advantage is achieved that when the first leg is used as a mounting leg, a large mounting surface is available.
  • Advantageously, the outer surface of the first side leg is provided with a fabric or a fleece. Such a web or fabric serves as a primer for an adhesive which is used to fix the first side leg to a substrate.
  • According to one embodiment of the present invention, at least one elongated adhesive strip is provided, which is attached or attachable to the outside of the base leg. Accordingly, the base leg of the profile can be set on a substrate via the adhesive strip.
  • The lighting means is preferably elongate, in particular in the form of a strip or a chain with a plurality of LEDs arranged thereon.
  • According to one embodiment of the present invention, the luminous means is attached or attachable to the base leg, in particular using at least one adhesive strip, whereby a compact construction is achieved.
  • Preferably, a second lens cover is provided, which is formed substantially U-shaped and a base portion and two of this projecting, each other In the region of its free end, the first side section has a region which projects back in the direction of the second side section, which is designed such that the outer surface of the projecting region of the first side section is substantially flush with the outer surface of the second Side leg of the profile closes, wherein the length of the side portions is chosen in particular such that the outer surface of the base portion terminates in the intended condition substantially flush with the free end of the first side leg of the profile.   • Advantageously, fastening means are provided for releasably securing the lens cover to the profile, which are formed integrally with the profile and the lens cover, whereby a low-cost construction is achieved with a few individual components.
  • According to one embodiment of the present invention, the fastening means define a manually releasable detent connection and are provided in particular in the form of interengaging projections and recesses. As a result, a very simple and easy-to-use construction of the fastening means is achieved.
  • The lighting system according to the invention is advantageously used for the back lighting of tiled or clad wall projections.
  • In a method for producing a backlighting of tiled or clad wall projections using a lighting system according to the invention, a closing profile for protecting the side edges of edges and projecting from the wall projection tiles or plates is arranged on the outer surface of the first side leg of the profile.

  • FIG. 1 shows an illumination system 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The lighting system 1 comprises as main components a profile 2, a luminous means 3 and two variants of diffuser covers 4 and 5.
  • The profile 2 is an extruded profile, which may be made of aluminum, stainless steel or plastic, for example. The profile 2 is substantially U-shaped and comprises a base leg 6 and two of this substantially perpendicular projecting, oppositely arranged side legs 7 and 8, wherein the first side leg 7 is formed longer than the second side leg 8 and in this case about twice Length. On the inner sides of the side legs 7 and 8, an inwardly projecting elongated projection 9, 10 is arranged in each case. The projections 9 and 10 are used for releasably receiving the diffuser cover 4 or the diffuser cover 5, as explained in more detail below. On the outside of the first leg 7, a fleece or fabric 11 is attached, which forms a primer for an adhesive when the first side legs 7 is adhesively attached to a substrate.   • The diffuser cover 4 is made of translucent plastic and has a substantially U-shaped structure. It comprises a base section 14 and two side sections 15 and 16, which project at right angles from the latter and are arranged opposite one another, which in the present case have the same length. Each side portion 15, 16 is provided on its outside with a groove-shaped recess 17, 18, wherein the groove-shaped recesses 17 and 18 cooperate in the intended condition with the elongated projections 9 and 10 of the profile 2 and define a manually releasable latching connection, as in FIG. 2 is shown. Accordingly, the diffuser cover 4 between the side legs 7 and 8 of the profile 2 can be used until the latching connection engages. The length of the side portions 15 and 16 and the positions of the groove-shaped recesses 17 and 18 are chosen such that in the intended condition, the outer surface of the base portion 14 of the diffuser cover 4 is flush with the free end of the second side leg 8 of the profile 2, as it in FIG. 2 is shown. Accordingly, light emitted from the light source 3 received in the profile 2 can leave the profile 2 only in the direction of the arrow A.
  • The diffuser cover 5 is also made of translucent plastic and includes a Base portion 19 and two of this projecting perpendicular, oppositely disposed side portions 20 and 21. The side portions 20 and 21 are each provided on its outer side with a groove-shaped recess 22, 23, which in turn with the elongated projections 9 and 10 of the profile 2 to produce cooperate a releasable latching connection. The first side portion 20 of the diffusing screen cover 5 has in the region of its free end a recessed area in the direction of the second side portion 21 region 24 which is formed such that the outer surface of the corresponding projecting portion 25 of the first side portion 20 in the intended state arranged substantially flush with the outer surface of the second side leg 8 of the profile 2 closes.   • The luminous means 3 is an elongated strip having a plurality of LEDs arranged thereon. The light exit of the luminous means 3 is selected such that, in the intended state, light in the direction of the base section 14, 19 of FIG corresponding diffuser cover 4, 5 is emitted.

  • FIG. 4 shows a partially sectioned side view of an arrangement which serves to cover a standing on a substrate 26 bath 27. Claims (10)

  1. An illumination system (1), in particular for illuminating tiled wall protrusions (29; 35), comprising:
    - at least one elongate, substantially U-shaped profile (2) that has a base arm (6) and two side arms (7, 8) projecting from the latter and arranged opposite one another, wherein the first side arm (7) is made longer than the second arm (8),
    - at least one illuminant (3) that is or can be fastened within the receiving space defined by the base arm (6) and the two side arms (7, 8) of the profile (2), and
    - at least one elongate diffusion disc cover (4, 5) that is or can be releasably fastened to the profile (2),
    characterised in that
    the diffusion disc cover (4) is substantially U-shaped and comprises a base section (14) and two side sections (15) projecting from the latter and arranged opposite one another, and in that the length of the side sections (15) is chosen such that, in the correctly arranged state, the outer surface of the base section (14) terminates substantially flush with the free end of the second side arm (8) of the profile (2).
  2. The illumination system (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the profile (2) is an extruded profile with a cross-section that remains the same over the entire length.
  3. The illumination system (1) according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first side arm (7) is at least 1.5 times and in particular at least twice as long as the second side arm (8).
